One set up for Rifle, the other for pistol..
Or one for large primers and the other for small primers

1000 rounds in a couple of hours is easily doable with a just a case feeder

I dream about a pair of 550s for just this reason. I don't like taking down my .223 match setup to make pistol plinking ammo.

Also, please read this post on another forum because he makes some really good points on why Hornady's is better than Dillon. DO you agree with his statements?

The op in that thread spouted off quite a bit of nonsense. Don't worry about negligible differences in times for caliber changes. If you're getting a 650 with a case feeder and bullet feeder then you'll be doing large runs of ammo production between caliber changes if you're smart. Minimize your caliber changes and maximize your volume of output per run. You're going to pay either in time or money if you want high production rates and minimal hassle for caliber changes.

I have friends who use the LNL AP precisely because the caliber conversion is cheaper, and they seem quite happy with it.

This guy doesn't know what he's talking about!
If you are worried about Dealing with powder bars it's simple, just get a tool head for each caliber so don't have to change anything. It only takes me about 5 minutes to change calibers on my 650 that's including changing from small primer to large primer, case feeder plate and bullet feeder. The dies and powder measure are already setup from the last time used.
The spent primer bin holds about 400 big deal. It's called maintenance.
Besides who wants a gallon milk jug on the floor by your feet full of spent primers

I used to own a Hornady LNL AP...Sold it and got a Dillon XL650. Happy Happy Happy.
