In the reloader sense? I bought my wife a .243 for Christmas. Bought it a few weeks back so I spent the weeks leading up to Christmas buying dies, brass, and bullets. (well dad gave me the bullets, lol) Factory ammo wasn't even a thought for me. I just got all the stuff together and went with it. I loaded up 69 rounds (all the bullets dad gave me) of a 75g HP, with 37 grains of Varget.

So who else doesn't even think of buying factory ammo when they buy a new caliber?

I haven't bought factory ammo in years, excluding 22LR, and my sons and I shoot a lot. Yeah, you got it bad.

I hate to tell you but it gets worse. When I'm cruising gun shows or the internet sale sites I look for bargains in calibers that I don't even own because I may get one some day. Your time is fast approaching.

Perfectly normal, almost every new rifle that I've bought has never had a factory round shot out of it.

Usually I'll buy the dies and reloading components before I buy the rifle and if the rifle is an impulse buy, I'll buy the accessories while I'm on the 10 day wait.

Recently had an opportunity to get a FN 5.7 at a terrific price. Didn't get it because I expressly don't want to reload for it and I'm not about to go back to buying factory ammo in any caliber.

the last factory ammo I bought was 6.8SPC only because I didn't have any brass and factory ammo was cheaper than new brass. other than that I only buy .22lr

I only buy factory fodder when it is something unusual or a very good price. I am building a Savage Varmint action in .260 Rem. and it will never see a factory round. You are definitely in the right place.

I usually buy one box of the weight of bullets I plan to shoot or con someone out of 3-5 rounds. Then I run them over the Chrono so I can compare my handloads to them.
At one time I could buy factory ammo for the same price as brass. Then I would pull the bullets and place the powder/bullet into a used case reload and save the new brass for my hunting ammo using the powder/bullet I wanted.

I have 40 rounds of Remington Hyper Sonics for my 308 I bought before reloading. I paid so much for it that I don't want to shoot it.
