Drill trimming

Anyone use the trimmer system that gets connected to an electric drill?

Yeah, I use them for some of my rifle calibers, and all of my pistol calibers. It works very well, and it makes trimming go fast! I've been pretty happy with it.

There are some disadvantages to that system but I have some... bizzare... needs. For example, they don't make a 41 Special insert but that is a VERY uncommon problem.

You do have to buy a new length gauge and shellholder for every caliber but they're cheap. Also, they don't make them for all calibers but you can usually adapt something. For example, I cut down a 9mm Luger length gauge to make a Makarov trimmer. Is it the best, most precise trimming system on earth? Absolutely not but it gets the job done quickly, and cheaply.

Still using them for my bulk and precision loads, no problems to report to date. I use them in both a hand drill and drill press.

Yes the Lee trimmer is awesome. My dad no longer will use his Lyman.

I did some resreach on the Lee Delux trimmer that goes into the press and will be adding that to my bench.

I have the Lee trimmer for my drill. It is really fast and safe.

As for the Lee Deluxe Trimmer, I was not really thrilled about it. Slow process to trim and put it on the press. It also looked really cheap in quality. Sent it back to https://fsreloading.com/ the next day. Just had to pay the shipping. The zip trimmer is supposed to be good. But, again the drill is fast and easy.

Worlds finest trimmer works great, love the bearing insert. A little pricy. Cuts nice, but I would prefer a better end mil.

CTS trimmer has a better end mil then the WFT, cheaper too, but I wasn't a fan of their plastic insert. Cuts clean and square, and you pretty much do not need need to debur if you're using boat tail bullets. If I had a better cordless drill that spun true, I would probably like it more.

The possum hollow is quick and cheap. A little more wobble, but works great for ammo and price can't be beat. I have limited experience with it, but when I did get to use it, I liked it.

I use lee ball cutter and lock to make trim my 9mm Luger cases to make my own 9mm mak cases. The case length gauge will eventually wear down and would need replacing. As soon as 2000 rounds of 223. But you can either buy a new one for 4-5 bucks, or email them and they will send a replacement.

I'm not a high volume shooter, so I don't need the gracey or giraud trimmer, nor do I want to pay the hefty prce tag. Another reason why I won't is some people are just plain snobs about owning one. So it turns me off.

Buy what's on your budget, and shoot a lot

I've got a Lyman that is a manual but has an adapter to hook a drill too it. Just been too lazy to buy the adapter. Pretty good trimmer for the most part.


But I do see a lot of guys who like the Lee and talk nothing but good about it.. But then again kinda reminds me of the FL trend when I keep seeing "best trimmer ever made" and "nothing else compares". Always get me a little skeptical when I see that.

lol, I bought the lyman and it works great but after a few times I was like "damn it, why didn't I buy the power one!" still haven't bought the drill adapter but I'm about due to trim some cases soon so I just might, lol. still think it's the best universal trimmer though.

I use the Lee cartridge specific trimmer in my drill press. I chamfer and deburr using the same drill press. Wear mechanics gloves and your hands won't get sore.

I use the WFT on my small harbor freight drill. Works great.

Wilson/sinclair case trimmer 50bmg model, trims everything, even the 450 bushmaster with ease, speeds it up quicker with the drill attachemnt

I had the lyman, then i bought the power attachment still a pain. The forster is great. I can trim 100 cases in less than 10 minutes easy.
