I use a small halogen lamp that keeps me warm. Kind of resembles a small fog light. Works great and I direct it at the press.

Make sure if you use one of the forced air ones not to point it in the direction of the scale, ask me how I know. I put up a couple walls in one corner and used a small forced air heater at the bottom of my feet, going to hang a heat lamp from the rafter next, maybe that will stop the air from moving to much.

This guy is smart ! Insulate, its not that expensive if you do it yourself and get a forced air heater like a HotDawg. Now you may never want to go back in the house

My Garage is attached to the house and even though I have my loading set up in the back room I try and do work out in the garage in the middle of winter... This year I finally went out and bought two fittings and 15 feet of 8" flexible ducting. I tapped into the Heating ducts for the rest of the house and now the garage is heated and cooled. Stays the same temp as the rest of the house and is a pleasure to go out and work in the garage... Besides ...........my cars needed a more controlled environment..

I live in an apartment with a fairly large walk-in closet. being a working man and generally anti-social, I don't have much in the way of "sunday clothes" her side is full of clothes, mine has a desk which is the reloading center, a safe and piles of gun-related nonsense. it's a mess but I manage to load for a bunch of weird old rifles so it's good enough for me, and warm!

...but the skirt keeps me feelin fresh in the summer.

I'd just enclose the ceiling if it is vaulted, insulate the walls, and make it nice. It will add value to your home and will make life a lot more safe and endurable than just using a space heater.

its not too bad here, maybe 40s at the lowest, I have to keep the garage door open an inch so I can smoke. I use an electric heat dish, takes the chill off but dosent warm up a 2 car garage

I had one of those. The problem with that type of heater is you have to make sure you have nothing but fresh air to burn. In other words if you have a parts washer, solvent tank or any other source of fumes it will burn dirty and you will suffer from carbon monoxide sickness or worse.

                    I know this from experience.

I bought a natural gas heater with an enclosed firebox to get around my problem. It vents through the roof or you can tee off into your water heater vent if applicable. It burns clean, cheaply and heats the garage in about 12 minutes of ignition. It works off of a thermostat.

Ive tried most all the other methods mentioned here, and this is the way to go if you own your place and use it a lot. I can stand in my garage in a t-shirt regardless of any temp the mean So. Cal winter throws my way.

It is made by Modine and is called the HOT DAWG. cost me about 500 bucks from QC Supply.

Replace those ceiling lights with those 250/500w floodlights and then when you turn them all on high aside from a very bright garage you will have a warm one too after about 5 minutes.

I use a Mr. Heater. Crank it up on high just before I go out then turn it down after about 15 minutes.

Temporarily you can hang blankets overhead and down for walls and that along with the heater will hold in enough heat to make this more pleasant.

Eventually you will want to enclose the area. No point in heating the whole garage.
