Reloading Scale

I'm looking for a reloading scale. Looks like the RCBS 505 or 10-10 is what I'm looking for. I have one at my in-laws and love it. The digitals are out of my price range.

Looking on the net I'm finding RCBS 5-10's that are more affordable.

How are these scales compared to the 505/10-10?

I'm reloading different caliber pistol ammo with charges in the 4-6 grain range and need a .1 precision (example 4.6 grains)

I'm trying to stay below $70 for this scale.

The RCBS 10-10 is a great scale that's hard to beat, even the 505 is really good. If you can pick up one at a good price, you should jump on it before someone else does.

Here is a digtal scale I am going to get - Jennings Mack 20 http://www.oldwillknottscales.com/je...e-mack-20.html. I have read good reviews on them here and on other forums and it has a 20 year warranty that they guarantee it will be sent back to you fixed or they will send a new one in two days. The price is right too, only $51.95.

This is supposed to be a pretty good and very affordable grain scale for reloading. It has the same problems as my more expensive lyman scale but seems superior since it is more precise. I believe it weighs to 100ths of grains, not just tenths.

I see quality RCBS & Hornady & Pacific used balance beam scales all the time at gun shows for $30 to $50 range.

I got this at the recomendation of another CalGuner, and love it! Works super well.

If you're only weighing pistol charges (not planning to weigh projectiles) then the RCBS RC-130 might be a good choice. It weighs up to 130 grains and costs under $60.

I have a both a Redding beam and an RCBS Chargemaster- I find I use the Chargemaster to weigh most everything, as it is much faster.

I use this one almost solely now. I rarely need to bust out the 5-0-5, but I check every now and then anyways...


BTW, as I just saw, support for this scale is growing among reloaders. I was told about it when I got into reloading, I bought one, then I loved it, then I told others about it, and now I see folks buy them all the time. It is good to know if you have a HIGH 5.4gr (5.48) or a LOW 5.4gr (5.42) sometimes when you want to chrono and know that you are doing all that you can do to throw an accurate/consistent charge.

I bet you can find this same digital scale over in the Dillon pages for about $79.00 + 8.50 for shipping... (yeah that was a jab...)

I have had a 5-10 scale for over 30 years. Great scale, still very accurate as verified by my test weights, and backed by RCBS lifetime warranty.

Honestly I saw that one, but I think it is either a knockoff or copy. I know, we ALL know how this crap works.

I saw the reviews for that one and I decided that I would stick with the Gemini Pro that had the 450+ reviews.

I almost bought the $16.00 one for a friend but I thought that maybe because of the negative reviews that maybe there was something wrong with that seller's scales, so I went to the one that I had purchased instead.

Yours may be fine and they might be the SAME scale, so with that said I do not know why the poor reviews for one and great reviews for the other since I do not have them both side by side to compare, BUT, for all intents and purposes, yes, that looks like the same scale, just a different seller.
