    Removing "Moly"

Has anyone removed moly coating before? What is the easiest technique you have found if so? Thanks, I prefer my bullets naked.

taking a molly coating off makes it taste pretty bad but gets you just as high...oh wait...different molly.

just kidding i dont do that stuff. I have heard that soaking in KROIL for a couple days and tumbling will remove it no sweat.

no need to soak in Kroil. A few hours in a tumbler, and they will come out shiny!

        How many do you have?

And do you have old media that needs to be replaced?

Does it make more sense to clean them or sell them and buy what you want?

I purchased 500 bear creeks with moly on them and they look cool, but I was thinking of maybe powdering over them, maybe I will try one or two- Bottom line though, I think that moly is gonna put up a fight to be removed.

And in other news I just found out that male dogs do not know how to use their kagel or pinch it or squeeze it or have an on/off switch for their pecker today... (As I type this with wet shoes...)

Nice thought, but I think something like this is the only way you'll remove the moly from the Bear Creek Bullets. These bullets arent just rolled in moly dust, it looks like a polymer coating with the moly compound embedded in it. They boast the lead inside the bullet will melt before the coating does. Here's some more literature on the product. Apparently, they have so much business that they don't need to market their product and I agree. If I didn't get into casting, they would be my go to bullet 99% of the time.

Na-Vah though I've never tried removing moly coating before try these chemicals: acetone, MEK, mineral spirits, and brake cleaner. Please do it outside for ventilation. Just curious though if your planning to remove the moly from lead or jacketed bullets?

I would assume break cleaner would get as close as you could without something hot or highly acidic. Probably would be simpler to sell those molly bullets and buy hardcast lead instead.

THAT is a good read. Thanks. I never really thought of it, I opened the box once or twice and was like, cool, hey, it does not rub off, but it feels slick, maybe not as slick as my PC, but pretty slick. Cool, so they prolly used the epoxy paint coating method with Hexagonal Boron Nitride added in or something similar to that. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Use a bottle of propane, just put the flame on low.

The only way I think you can get moly out of the barrel is by replacing it. Not kidding. after the obligatory hour long cleaning session with JB bore paste, I don't think it'll bother you much in the future. Or will it?

edit: nevermind, I thought you meant out of your bore, not off of the bullets.

I have good luck with tumbler method with Moly SMK. I am sure you should have no problem getting rid of moly on Scenar using the same method.
