Has anyone removed moly coating before? What is the easiest technique you have found if so? Thanks, I prefer my bullets naked.

Removing "Moly"

How many do you have?
And do you have old media that needs to be replaced?
Does it make more sense to clean them or sell them and buy what you want?Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I purchased 500 bear creeks with moly on them and they look cool, but I was thinking of maybe powdering over them, maybe I will try one or two- Bottom line though, I think that moly is gonna put up a fight to be removed.
And in other news I just found out that male dogs do not know how to use their kagel or pinch it or squeeze it or have an on/off switch for their pecker today... (As I type this with wet shoes...)7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...

Nice thought, but I think something like this is the only way you'll remove the moly from the Bear Creek Bullets. These bullets arent just rolled in moly dust, it looks like a polymer coating with the moly compound embedded in it. They boast the lead inside the bullet will melt before the coating does. Here's some more literature on the product. Apparently, they have so much business that they don't need to market their product and I agree. If I didn't get into casting, they would be my go to bullet 99% of the time.Comment

Na-Vah though I've never tried removing moly coating before try these chemicals: acetone, MEK, mineral spirits, and brake cleaner. Please do it outside for ventilation. Just curious though if your planning to remove the moly from lead or jacketed bullets?Comment

THAT is a good read. Thanks. I never really thought of it, I opened the box once or twice and was like, cool, hey, it does not rub off, but it feels slick, maybe not as slick as my PC, but pretty slick. Cool, so they prolly used the epoxy paint coating method with Hexagonal Boron Nitride added in or something similar to that. The only way I think you can get moly out of the barrel is by replacing it. Not kidding. after the obligatory hour long cleaning session with JB bore paste, I don't think it'll bother you much in the future. Or will it?
edit: nevermind, I thought you meant out of your bore, not off of the bullets.Comment
