SMK and Nosler 77gr

Are both created equal? I load the SMK 77gr with 24.2gr of RL15 and CCI #41. It is the best accurate load for my rifle. If I load the Nosler Custom Competition 77gr with the same load as the SMK, will I get the same results? Or do I have have to do the work up? I'm asking because both protectile looks exactly the same.

A lot of folks shoot the Nosler, I love it, and it has shot very well for me.

All I shoot out of my 7mm rem mag is nosler 140s. They shoot great.

I have tried both and found the Sierra to be much more accurate at distance with my gun

I switched from SMK to Nosler last year on both my Finnish Mosins and Swedish Mausers for military match shooting and have had great results. The cost is 30% lower too

I shot the Nosler 77 for a long time in matches simply because they were dirt cheap direct from Nosler back in the mid-2000s. They worked fine for me.

I've used SMK for years and as my SMK supply dwindle down, I am replacing them with Nosler equivalent.

They are much more affordable, and shoot just as good out of my rifles!

PS. Try Nosler 69 gr HPBT... It works better than 77gr out of my 18" SPR 1/8 twist.

A shooter I really trust swears that the 69s shoot better for him to 300 yards than the 77s. I've well cleaned a 300 yard rapid with the 77s, I don't know how much better the SMKs really could be at that point.

they are close but yes they are different - if I remember correctly my load was .5 different.

The only noticable difference is the base of the nosler is a little sharper where as the smk is a little more rounded.nosler shoot good ,nothing wrong with them.

My understanding is...NO,
The SMK is offered with a groove for a crimp which under rough handling/use will lend itself to a possibly more reliable/consistant round...the average rec shooter might never need this feature.
The Nosler jacket is thinner from my reading. Only an issue if you hotrod this round.
Other than shooting off a bench with sandbags at 100 yards, I'd bet a person would never notice the difference between the two accuracy wise.
