i have a lee classic turret set up with the auto disk on it for when i load pistol rounds. recently i tracked down all the components to finally be able to load my rifle rounds. my dies that i have for my rifle are not powder through so its either i buy the universal charging die and double disk kit for the lee auto disk or get a powder measure. i really like the auto disk with my pistol rounds but i haven't got the chance to use it on any thing else has any one had experience with the charging die double disk set up. which way would you guys recommend

If you want to save money then get the double disk kit.
I have an Auto disk pro (round red hopper right?) that you rotate to turn on or off and I have the charge bar that I use. I have never used those disks because I have the adjustable charge bar for it but sadly they do not make a rifle adjustable charge bar. Maybe they should.
But yeah, so a double disk kits costs what? Under $20? Get it. Give it a shot, WORST case is that you are out $20 and you do not like how it works, but Lee usually is good with their stuff so it SHOULD work well for you. That adjustable charge bar is only good for up to 22gr of H110. So I should have went with the double disk kit, but I went the whole new hopper way and I got the LNL dropper with case activated linkage. That ended up costing me about $130.
You COULD just get a new dropper, but I say go for the gold and you might be able to also work out something with the lee pro auto disk as well.
I have not crossed this bridge yet with my reloading. You mean you can reload rifle too? WHA? Crazy...
If you DO have to get a different powder dropper though, let me recco a LNL powder dropper instead of a RCBS Uniflow. It is the SAME dropper, except it has been improved. The uniflows that I have seen do not have any quick changes or drain tubes. Also they are a tad cheaper then the uniflows.

there around the same price the double disk would actually be more cause i need the special rifle charging die.Comment

Special rifle charging die? What about just a powder funnel and adjust it so that it does not flare the case any?
Hmmm. I did not recall needing any special rifle charging die, of course we had a uniflow dropper...
Well, then look at it this way, this can be done by two things. Is it WORTH it to get a different powder measure/dropper setup for just the rifle or can you get a funnel and charge manually? Cause if you the majority of your rounds being for pistol, then I would say stick with the Lee, but if you are gonna be doing more and more rifle rounds, then you should prolly consider getting a dropper and then just plug it into the powder die and charge manually. Ya know what, why mess with the hassle? Just get a powder dropper. You know you like buying more equipment when it calls for it and I think it is calling...7 Billion people on the planet. I have the double disk kit and the rifle charging die on my turret and it works great. The double disks allow you a lot more precision on your powder charges over the single disks. Just for that its worth the money for me. I got mine from Grafs, Natchez, or Midway (can't recall right now) but it wasn't very expensive even with shipping.
The Lee instructions say the rifle die can be used on rifle cases up to .308. What rifle calibers are you going to be reloading for? I do .303 British, 7.5x55 Swiss, and soon 30-06 by hand because they are too big to use the rifle charging die, but it works perfectly for my .223.Comment

I got the rifle charging die and double kit. It's great when you finally get the charge you want down. I actually have 3 levels to charge my 30-06 cases. I had to do a little bit of dremeling and get some longer screws from the hardware store, but it works. I recommend it since it sounds like you're almost there anyway.Comment

I have the double disk kit and use it for black powder and it works great. Basically it's just some extra disks, longer screws, and kind of a extension to make the walls higher. Not much to it. If you don't like it, well, at least you got some extra disks out of it which isn't a bad thing. I'd say if you're happy with that loader with disks in general you won't be any less happy with the double disk kit.
Those rifle charging dies are really cheap so I'm just not seeing a lot of risk, here.Comment
