now that I have components, do I.....

    assemble them into actual ammunition?

Or do I keep them as components and load as needed?

Something tells me to keep them in component form and loads as is just in case you want to switch components or use a different load.

But, if you know what you want to load, you can create your ammunition, then buy more components to back fill. Because 20 lbs of powder goes by fast

load, as long as you have time.

if you already know the load that you are going to use, there is no point in keeping them as components laying around, they are just going to be loaded eventually.

Don't assemble them as you may want to try different loads in the future. Plus it sounds from the question that you are new to reloading. It would suck to load a bunch of a particular round and then find out it doesn't function or it isn't as accurate as another load. Once you've been loading for many years and find a load you love, then I'd say load 'em all.

If you think about from a fiscal standpoint, if needed, reloading components are easy to sell if you need the money in the future. Reloaded ammo is illegal to sell if you need the money.

Load as needed. My buddy was like you and got all his stuff loaded everything he had.

Loaded everything wrong.... I came and asked how it went and he showed me what he did. We then realized he left out a step and completely had to do it all over again.

Even if you get it right don't waste your components. You might change your mind of bullet weight or powder charge or combo. I see it like cooking. Make what you need for that night and then cook more tomorrow.

Reload everything you have and buy more components. Shoot what's made so you have more brass to reload. Repeat often!

Definitely don't go crazy with the loading until you have a certain comfort level with the load and you aren't constantly messing with it. Once you get something nice and you get into a groove with it you might as well knock a bunch out so you can go shoot them.

I load as needed. but I do keep records of all my loads so I can quickly assemble any ammo for any purpose for any firarms I own!

                  I do both!

Right now, all that I have to load is 50 rounds of 41 mag brass.

But, I still have tons of components.

When you get a good load then load, I do about 1000 per setting once a month

I agree with the others, LOAD LOAD LOAD because it may come that you need to shoot or want to shoot but you have not loaded. SO load for what you KNOW you are going to be making, then go buy more powder and keep yourself legal

I tend to buy primers in large batches, so when I have a little time I de-prime size and prime brass than set it aside. Than when I want to load all the hard work is done.

Develop your load verifying function and performance...then go crazy.

If you're concerned about maximum amount of powder which is to be stored, there is no maximum on loaded ammo.

                            ^This.
There are indeed fire code limitations on how much powder and primers you can hold. So, having a verified load, I tend to go nuts. I really enjoy reloading which makes that an added bonus.

only illegal to sell if you intend to make it a business of selling reloaded ammo. If you plan on making it a business to sell reloads its a FFL 06 you would need IIRC.
