    53g V-max 223

so i have about 1000 53g v-max bullets i want to load and when doing so they look funny since the bullet is so long and narrow. Just curious if someone could measure their 53g superformance ammo and tell me what the COAL is for the factory stuff. thanks.

Any good reloading manual will have that info. A 53gr bullet is not any longer or narrower than a 55gr bullet....
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I for one am getting tired of Hornady and their crap.

I hate that their Leverlution bullets gotta have a die modified (Lee) in order to load them correctly.

BUT, they should fit in your mag so why not just seat them a tad deeper?

These bullets have the extra little plastic/rubber tip on the end right? Designed to explode varmints like the Barnes Varmint Grenades? Thems are cool though...

when seating to the hornady manual it will cause the taper of the bullet to slide under the brass. so it almost looks like a sabot.
and yes the 53g bullet is longer and has a much steeper ogive (not sure if im using that word right) hence its amazingly high .290 BC.

Fit it to your gun mag. or .010-.015 before lands & groove.
