2nds are usually excess or "rejects" that the MFG wasn't fully happy with or didn't meet specs. ie. color, finish, weight, small blemish. Some companies seconds are almost identical to their 1st and some companies 2nds are horrid.

All depends on how strict that MFGs spec tolerances and QC is.

    Do they have pull-marks?
I've seen that depated on a few occasions with good points on both. Some guys say the pull marks will effect performance while some say its moot being some rifling puts more distortion and mar on bullets out of the muzzle again making those pull marks moot.

But that said through my years of reloading I have used and seen different methods of bullet pullers and bullet pulling leaving different levels of markings when pulled.

My new method which leaves 0 marks when pulled. But again different methods and tools used and markings left is another factor to account in to determine flight effect when shot.

The only thing about Rocky Mountain reloading's pulled SMK is that they did not clean out the tar. It's another step you have to take before using them.

For the price, I rather buy brand spanking new Nosler 168gr from Midway.

I've loaded SMK and Nosler, and with my skill and equipment, I can't see any difference.

Just remember they are not hunting bullets and should not be used for that.

Besides a 150gr hunting bullet will do you more good due to more speed and proper construction.

You are better off buying the factory seconds over on Powder Valley. There are mo pull marks, tar, or crimp marks.
