    max load 30-30

I am doing some ladder loads, and got a question about the max loads I did.

    Hornady 150g round nose
    Imr 3031
    Trim length 2.030

    I did 4 of each 28.7, 30, 31.2, 32.5, and 33.8 (max)

Everything loaded great with a nice crimp and overall length of 2.550. Except for the max loads which I believe bullet hit powder and won't let it seat all the way. I got two rounds 2.551, one round 2.552, and last is 2.555.

Book calls for max length 2.550, the shorter rounds I tapped the case so all the powder will settle, the longest I did not do it...

Is this normal, are they ok to shoot (winchester 1894)? Do I need to tear them apart.

And yes I weighted it all out by hand scale read the exact same everytime (used trickler)

Compressed load... What manual are you using?

On the IMR page for 3031, using a 150g pill, they have a max of 30.5g...

Interesting... here's a screen shot of my book. The two speer books don't list 3031 for 150gr

The IMR site has min load at 28.7 and max at 30.5. That is not a very big spread. I don't have the Speer or Hornady books in front of me, do they indicate that the max loads are compressed?

It's important to have current loading
Manuals becuse powder formulas can change.

Get yourself at least one, preferably 2 current manuals.
