Brass Tumblers

Recently go in to reloading and bought a Dillon 550B setup from a neighbor. His 25 year old Lyman little orange tumbler is still going strong. Its little but im in no rush.

I might add I got the seperator kit from Midway years ago when I got the tumbler.

I threw mine in the garbage after the first 2 attempts to use it.

A wire basket is hands down the best option.

I have the Lyman 1500 I believe... it works just fine..

I have a Lyman as well as a Hornady sonic cleaner. I have been using the sonic cleaner more and more, fast and efficient, no media to clean up, gets in the primer pockets real good.

I do sometimes tumble AFTER the sonic to really polish it if I want super duper shiny brass.

I have a tumbler from Berry's. It works great. Capacity is good and it has lifetime warranty on the plastic. Motor warranty is 3 years.

Really? I started with the basket. Much prefer the spinning separator thing-a-ma-jig.

+1 on harbor freight. I got the dual tumbler for $39 after $10 off coupon i found on Their website. Believe its good thru end of this month. Buy some stm media (only need the 3 pound bag). $25 i think? Ive only tumbled about 200 rounds, but in half hour my brass looked brand new and was easy as pie. Grab a gold sifter pan, thin mesh net to seperate brass from media. Throw brass in oven on 200 for 40 minutes and bam. Ready to load. All in price was way lower than anything else by half. Dont fall for the big name game. Simple, cheap, quiet and no mess.

I have the Cabelas tumbler and really like it. It is quiet, has an on/off switch on the cord and they will stand behind their product. It is made by Berrys and the official warranty is through them. However, I had a problem where the grounding prong broke off after only a couple of weeks, called Cabelas and they shipped a new tumbler to me right away and gave me a return tag for the original one. Great customer service. I also got their sifting pan which works pretty well to separate the media and brass.

I followed his plans and built mine and finished my first batch of 223. 650 cases I was able to do in 1.5 hours they are mirror bright. It's a process to rinse and dry after but they get so clean I wont have to tumble them again for awhile.

Yeah, I guess I got so used to the wire basket that I could not make the separator work like I wanted. Seriously, 2 times and in the trash it went. I did keep the small bucket though. I store my media in it.

In the past 3 years I have 'Burned out " 4 different brand tumblers with all the Brass I tumble

I have one on the bench right now that I have worn a hole clear thru the bowl !!!!
It's a smaller one that I use for small jobs/ Trying to epoxey the wear spots up

My Best one has been the Dillon CV2001,

Yes it's huge .... But Man ...I can turn a Lot of Brass with it !!!!

I switched to SS media in a Thumblers Tumbler and love it. It is better quality but less quantity.

Throw brass in oven on 200 for 40 minutes and bam. Ready to load.

A little off topic but, when you add metal polish to the media, how much do you add?
