I'm surprised nobody has mentioned these yet:
1. Sort any range pick-up brass by headstamp.
2. Check bottleneck rifle cartridges for impending case separation by dragging a paper clip, w/ a small hook bent on the end, along the inside of case from head to neck. A bright ring will appear on the outside as it gets really thin.
3. Pistol cases sound different when they have cracks in them. Take a handful & jiggle them around, you will hear a case that is cracked all the way thru.Comment
