    1. Book of Lee : Modern Reloading Second Edition by Richard Lee. I skipped over the casting section in that one.

    2. Gunloads.castboolits.com forums over there are pretty much everything casting. Apparently, a bullet is the thing that has a copper jacket or plate around it and a boolit is a home made cast lead projectile or something... Go there if you want to learn about casting as well.

You can get this for free to start your reading:

There is also a link to get the entire write up on pdf.
Castboolits is also an excellent resource.

I did this on Saturday morning in about 3 hours from setup to takedown (about 2.5 hours of casting)
1062 9mm bullets, 18 pounds of lead (cost of about $16). This will keep my M&P9 well fed for another couple of months:

castboolits website and the Lyman cast bullet handbook. You can pm me and I will try to answer questions if the manual is not available, Its fun and makes loading affordable, but it can be expensive to start. It also is addictive.

Koehn, jim is right on with his advice.

The only thing else that I can add...is to forget all of the crap that people have told you about casting boolits! You are about to enter a new world! Oh...make sure that you watch out for the tinsel fairy! That gal is a beotch!

What are you planning on casting for?

Go to the used book store & get a old Lyman reloading manual.

The start up costs aren't that bad:
Lee 4-20 bottom pour pot: $64
Lee 6 cavity mold (just an example): $40

                  Handles: $13

Sizer (might not even need it): $19

Lube (included with Lee sizer) : $5

The pot and handles are one-time costs. Per-caliber cost would be about $60 for a mold and sizer ($40 if you don't need need the sizer). If you can find lead for $1/pound, you'll break even in about 1000 bullets compared to store bought cast bullets. Every time after that, not only are you immune to component shortages (like now), you pay about $2.50/100 bullets.

And if you look at this as a hobby, as I do with reloading, the couple of hundred start up is good fun, then the freedom from empty bullet shelves,
then the lower cost per round is the reward.

I know YouTube shouldn't be your only source, but check out some of the Ammosmith videos, that guy knows what he's doing, and he can offer some good tips.
