I hate rifle case prep! My hands hurt..

Had 200 pieces of once fired 30-06 brass that I am turning into M2 ball for the Garand to munch on. This brass probably could have gone without being trimmed, but in my measurements of a random selection, some were over the max length so I decided to have uniformity and trim them all.

I felt like it took all afternoon to lube, size/deprime, wipe off lube, trim brass (chucked in my drill), primer pocket clean, chamfer and debur, and finally prime.

I have blisters on my hands from the different aspects of the process, and it took forever. Now I remember why I hate rifle reloading. Brass prep sucks!

Get yourself an electric prep center. I have the Lyman Case Prep Express. It works great. Comes with all the tools necessary. I ordered it from Cabelas for $100 shipped. Money well spent.

try a spray lube.use a box,put your brass in ,shake and spray.after sizing tumble brass .last step eliminates the need to wipe brass.
i have a gracey trimmer with a motor that turns at3000rpm.the first trimming of mil brass is a little tough, but after that its easy.
      Keep it simple!

Yep, I got an RCBS prep center, really helped. If I'm doing large amounts of rifle brass, I'll also tape my fingers to prevent blisters. May try mechanics gloves...

I use the spray lube (I used to use a roll pad...omg that sucked). I thought about tumbling it to remove the extra lube... I didn't, but maybe I will next time. And yes next time I will be taping my fingers!

Yeah, the blisters from prepping rifle brass does suck. I'm definitely thinking mechanics gloves would be a good purchase - or lots of tape.

To clean off the RCBS spray lube I just toss the brass into a large towel, fold it over the brass and rub it back and forth a few times. That is fast, easy and does a good job. Also saves on the tumbler media.
I got the RCBS power trimmer and that makes things go faster and no blisters.
I use a Lyman prep center and gloves. That helps. Also I do some then come back after awhile and do more on the prep center. That helps the fingers.
What takes the time is deburring the flash holes with the Lyman hand tool.
The RA in my hands/wrist/elbows does not help when doing allot of the work either.

I was thnking the same. I might feel some tenderness/discomfort after a long session, but blisters over 200? Oh my.

Nitrile gloves maybe. Mechanics gloves lose too much dexterity.

Ya I suppose I have soft hands.... whatevs. I did all of it by hand and ended up with a blister on my thumb and on my finger from squeezing the primer. I can take a little ribbing though!

To get the case lube off the brass I toss the brass into a tumbler with corn cob media..

The process starts with the clean media, and then I add about an ounce of Isopropyl Alcohol to the running tumbler with just the media..

Shut off the tumbler, add the brass, and tumble for about 30 mins.. cases come out all de-lubed. I use a lanolin based lube for all rifle sizing. The grit of the media I use is 14-20, very fine so it doesn't get stuck in the primer pockets.. I get this stuff by the 50 # sack full at Grainger.
