""Well my buddy who is a match shooter said that when he's competing, he lubes, otherwise he doesn't"" what you have to ALWAYS lube a cast boolit either tumble, pan lube or lube or a grease wax type lube trough a lube sizer.

No lube will mean heavy leading boolit tumbling and lousy accuracy and OVER pressure on barrel all not good.

size them and lube them and flare case so they are started straight and problems should go away also do NOT over crimp, should be a tapper crimp just to take out the flare no more.

Okay, well heres some more info that may actually be more along the lines of my issue. I've been reading up on what can cause bulges in the casings and the consensus is that the dies are off-center. The fix seems to be loosen the lock nut, have a round in each station and raise the platform, then tighten the lock nuts. I'll have to give that a try as well when I get home tonight.

No IMHO its over crimping or not enough case flare. what is your crimp roll or taper or do you know? Aswell as too tight a flare where the boolit can catch on the case side and goes off center a wider flare will fix this and a light taper crimp is all you need.

just reduce flare enough that case in now back to straight sided.

Well I was going to increase my flare because I practically have no flare as is... I don't think reducing the case flare is going to help...

Casting for the 9mm can be a royal pain!
This is what I would do.

Go to castboolits.com and read every sticky, and post that you can find on the 9mm.

Get a crimp die. Seat your boolit and then crimp.

Stay away from tumble lubes for your 9mm....for now. It can cause lots of problems with leading.

You may have to get a M die from Lyman to help with the case mouth flare.

Stay away from the Lee factory crimp die. It can and will swage down your boolit diameter.

Abenaki, My Dillon press has a good seating die, a flare die and a good crimping die. I have some fixes I want to try tonight when I get home from work. We'll see how much luck they give me

Tumble lubing worked fine for me, but i simply got tired of the stuff and went all in with a Star, although tumble lubing did the deed for a couple years just fine. Cheap too.

sorry ment to say AFTER laoding all you need is to reduce the flare back to straight do not over crimp that will bulge case and can also cause chmberig issues

Could be oversized bullets, over crimping, lack of proper crimp or other variables.

First you need to slug the barrel and throat to determine the actual size cast bullet you need. Then you need to size your cast bullets accordingly, generally .001 -.002 over bore diameter.
Until you do this, all else is just chasing your tail and hoping to stumble on an issue and trying to fix issues that may not exist.
And you need to lube the bullets or you will get leading.
A LEE lube and size kit is $20 and works great.
Also the Lyman M-die will save you lots of grief and as already mentioned, for pistol loading stay away from Lee factory crimp dies.
