The "green" environmentally primers are of the small variety

Sort multiple times, I had a LPP detonate when trying to seat in a SPP pocket

Not dreaded at all I just sort them out and load like a normal 45acp round, but with a SPP. I probably have 700 or so and will gladly take all the ones anyone doesn't want!!

As to why 45acp is normally LPP is if you look at a 45acp and 30-06 case you will notice the 45acp looks like the bottom of the 30-06 case. They use the same shell holder. 30-06 is kinda the parent case to 45acp. You could even make your own 45acp brass if you turned down to mouth of the case to make it thinner, 30-06 brass is a lot thicker, the LPP would just sit down a little deep because it's not as tall as LRP.

If you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine.

Until every manufacturer switches over to SPP for their .45s, I'll continue to toss them in the trash where they belong.

Not worth my time to save em and load em.

I have been sorting out and saving 45 ACP brass with small pistol primers (spp) for a while myself. With the shortage of reloading supplies as it is I’m glad I did. To conserve my large pistol primers (lpp) I have been using the spp 45 brass for reloading lately. Using the same powder charges of Bullseye, Unique, and Power Pistol as I did with lpp I perceive no difference using spp. To further streamline reloading of all my 45s I use the same 200gr LRNFP w/crimping groove in my 45 ACP, 45 AutoRim, and 45 Long Colt reloads. The LRNFP function great through my 1911A1 and for that matter are very accurate in my Ruger Blackhawk 45 Convertible. If they ever come out with 45 Long Colt with spp I’ll reload those too further consolidating my reloading supply chain.

          Cheers,
          W-W

This. With the availability of primers (or lack there of) I prefer to have options. I also sometimes don't want to bother swapping out the priming system on the Dillon. However I've started swapping the priming bushing out of the rod in the dillon rather than swapping the whole priming rod.

Please don't toss out the spp .45 cases. Some of use load them and they might make good candidates for .400 corbon conversions.

My buddies and I hoped tossing them would take alot out of circulation. I see more than ever now though.

I hate those 45 ACP SPP brass. I usually find myself picking these up at the range where I shoot. These brass are usually from ammo with lead-free primers. I sort them out and put them with my 'useless brass' container.

If you're going to throw them out anyway, I'll gladly pay the shipping when you get a can full.

where do I get lead free primers to reload them? Or do you just use sp magnums?

                            Yup... happened on my 650

I am very aware of any extra pressure nowadays

Seen too many threads about the whole stack detonating

Unfortunately I do reload SPP and always swear I will leave them where I shoot em...however I usually always pick them up again. At least they are easy to sort, cuz I shoot them all at once

It looks like Midway lists TulAmmo lead free primers as Coming Soon. I would definitely try out lead free primers because I want to minimize lead exposure when reloading/shooting.
