WOOHOO!
Here is the deal. I PERSONALLY think that it might be a boring thing, BUT, you should stick with your current layout. Refine it a bit of course. Include the points that I said so that I have nothing to add and can continue playing angry birds while ya talk.
But in all honesty, If you keep getting NEW folks to show up and reload and learn it, they might all be the same basic level again so you should start from the beginning and run through the same routine. There were a lot of folks that did not make it out because they had other things going on, maybe next time you might get those folks plus a few more that will make it out and of course, they are new so you gotta start from the bottom again. But that is good. I think it might be good to maybe expand and show options like you did for a few things. I saw several presses that folks brought but were not used. I was eyeballing the Lee Loadmaster cause I had never seen on in real life, If someone brings it I SWEAR I will touch it with at least my pinky finger before I leave.
Maybe even show some brass cleaned one way vs another, maybe show different tools/times for cleaning and case prep. Lots of folks can not always go the same route, so there is a mixture. IE on case lube. WHO uses imperial sex wax vs hornady vs dillon vs rcbs vs lyman? I think you might draw some new folks out each time you do it so just be prepared to go over the same stuff and show different options. ANd let me know if you want me to bring some sopapilla cheesecake...
Hmmmmm. Yes, Okay, I think that in order to have a good and successful workshop, you should 1. Cover ALL of the basics, but expand a bit more until eventually most EVERYTHING is covered. 2. Have one BONUS section where you do ONE simple thing, like cover CASTING, and things to do or NOT do with molten lead (and why you should use a tool and not your finger to pick things out of it...) and maybe talk/show about proper lead temps and what not. Because I am under the impression that some of the things that I am saying are NOT known by all, maybe there should be no reservations about having someone show up and talk for a few minutes or so to give out that knowledge. Like, Yall talk about the basics, then turn it over for about 15 minutes or so to Michael or John and let them show everyone their casting tools and how to use them and what temps to set things to and what FLUX is and why dirty lead is good lead etc... Then, break for lunch and then start reloading and walking new folk through the steps.
I learned how to use the Lee hand primers that day. I had never done that before, but damn, there was no Lee Turret either. If people do not have a press, showing them options could give them something to take notes about what they like and do not like or might look for or not. It is one thing to talk about this crap here, it is another to see it in real life. I for one was VERY happy that I have a turret press to come home to because I was sliding into a depression when I was about half way through showing how to load up 9mm on a single stage... Even though I do not load 9, I have a decent understanding of it all and I kept having to correct myself because the method that I was showing did not work for the single stage 9mm folks. I was like, wtf? we don't need no loading- err oh mah bad, I guess a loading block is needed in THIS case... I only hope I did well at demonstrating proper safety/handling and procedures and why vs why not for the stuff I was showing. 50 rounds of 9mm was also a good number to make. That gave them a sense of what they will need to do, without dragging on too long.
If you would get a Lee quick detachable plate setup installed I would be glad to bring my press and lock it in and make whatever, 9 or .45 acp, actually, I am set for making some .45 acp so I would be glad to show them why they should get a turret press for pistol ammo... :\
