    Noob CA Ammo Question...

I am a brand new California gun owner. My first gun purchases have been tricky enough, but this forum has helped me navigate the minefield of our state's gun laws. My question today is, as a resident of Oakland, what restrictions am I facing when buying ammo online? Specifically, 9mm, 12ga, and .38 special.

Have family outside the city? Send it to them.

Does it have to be family? Can I send it to a friend?

I do not know of any for oakland, but Ia lso do not live there. I say go online and try to buy some, see if they have any restrictions on shipping to you. If not, then go for the gold.

Wow, Cheaper than dirt won;t ship, but seriously, who would buy from them anyways?

The idea is to have it shipped to someone outside the city that you trust. Family you can usually trust. Same with a real friend.

Hey have a look here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/a.../t-403266.html from 2011

"San Francisco, Tiburon, Carson, Santa Ana, Los Angeles, Richmond, Berkeley, Sacramento, Oakland, CA, Orange, Marin, Contra Costa, Napa, Yolo counties Are all places that some online dealers list as "No sale" addresses."

With all that said, there are many folks on a certain gun auction site that do not care and will ship you ammo no matter where you are.

Mmmmm. Welcome to calguns. Join the fight.

Yes, just be sure they'll send it after seeing your address.

Do places like Mailbox, etc allow you to have ammunition shipped to their boxes ?

Hello xSHEMx and others, I also live in Oakland, and I bought my 38 Special and 357 Magnum from "Ammoforsale.com" twice in last month and once in last week.

They did ship my ammunition to my home, but it took about a week to arrive (from TN to CA, and from Sacramento to Oakland). Also, choices are limited...... especially on 357 Magnum (last few weeks, they only offer one or two brands/ types, and they sold out all their 357 Magnum as I typing this reply).
