      40 with lead bullets

I have recently been experimenting with Bulleye and Bear Tooth 180 SWC

1...4.4 Bullseye over and WSPP very accurate in Sig 229
      2...4.8 """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""" groups spread out
      3...5.2 B"" """""""""""""""""""""" started to tighten a bit...stout recoil

4 4.4 Bullseye using small magnum primers erratic
5 4.8 Bullseye small magnum primers moderately heavy recoil lousy groups

I did repeat the test using the 4.4 with spp and got same excellent groups..this will; be my target load don't know how fast they are going chrono is next

        .45ACP 4.9 grains of 231 under 200 Grain LSWC.
        +1 on that

.45 acp and bullseye. It's a marriage made in heaven.
Indeed.. 4.2grain works really well for me.

They are flawless in my 1911.

My g23 really likes 3.7 grain of titegroup with 180gr fp...

As with any load data from the internet, take it for what its worth.
Work up your own loads and see what works best for you and your gun.
        Good advice !

I'm a Hodgdon Clays fan, cleanest burning and softest recoiling powder I've ever used.

          45 ACP: 200gr Berry's or Bayou's RN .452, 4.0gr Clays, Fed or Win primer, 1.250-1.260" COL, 840 FPS

          .40 S&W: 180gr Berry's or Bayou's TC .401, 3.4gr Clays, Fed or Win primer, 1.130-1.135" COL, 880 FPS

These are my competition recipes for IDPA

My loads go through box stock 1911's .40 & .45, Glock 22/23/35/21/30/36, M&P .40's, XDM's, you get the point, they go through just about anything.

          Hope this helps

.40 - 5.2gr Unique with 180gr FMJ for target loads. When I can find 180gr JHPs, I use 5.5gr Unique. I drop to 5.1gr for the 165gr JHPs.

.45 - 5.8gr Unique with a 230gr FMJ for target loads and 6.3gr Unique with a 230gr JHP for SD loads.

I pretty much stay with Unique because I've got a LOT of it.

This site is very helpful http://www.reloadammo.com/45loads.htm

I load 4.6 grains of Bullseye with Berry's 230 grain Plated RN, Federal Large Pistol Primers, 1.26 OAL and mild factory crimp.

I can go down to 4.2 for a lighter load or up to 5.0 but at that point my Colt 1911 shoots fine but it get dented cases with my Sig P220 Equinox .
