    Scale

    Hey everyone.

I have a reloading formula, bullets, powder, primers, and a bunch of empty casings. I also have one of those hand reloading kits. The only thing I don't have is a scale.

I'm always going to be reloading 150 grain Sierra bullets with the same powder and primers and just need to measure the powder in like a tube or something so I know how much should go in each load by measuring instead of weighing. Can anyone let me use their scale to measure this one load. I will come to your house and it will only take me a few minutes. If you live in San Diego and don't mind helping me out, let me know! I'd love to take you hunting or something in return sometime!

Sorry for sounding like a cheap***, I work well over full time (50 hours a week) but every dollar I make goes towards my tuiting and if I can save $100 that'd be awesome!

    Thanks everyone!

How do you know what load your rifle will like? I think you really do need a scale.

if you want consistent accuracy you need a scale. You can get a small druggie electronic scale for about 10-15 bucks. I would get a decent one for 30-50 bucks.

^^^Very nice. I'm pretty broke as well and am just starting out. I have everything except a scale but was going to say I bought a lightly used Lyman beam scale on ebay for $19, cost me $30 with shipping. Not the preferred scale for most but it keeps me loading until I can buy a reliable electronic scale.

Not everyone seeks to get the optimum accuracy out of their loads. Some of us just want consistent loads. You can get that without a scale. Lee's little dipper system, and systems like it, have been in use for hundreds of years with satisfactory results.

Just paying it forward. I started recently, and if it weren't for others who reload I'd still be looking for equipment.

I just picked up the scale. I am very thankful to Kale (I believe that is how he said his name haha) for being so generous. It's really nice to meet people willing to help others out.

And if anyone else in the SD area is getting into reloading and doesn't have a scale or reloading kit, hit me up! I'd love to share this one.

I understand that, but just assuming an untested load will work is the part I don't get. Once you have the load you know will work then that system would be fine. Hmm maybe he would just make the maximum load then cut back from there? or make a min and max? You really wouldn't want to start with the max.

I've used cheap electronic scales before and don't trust them. Once I get some extra cash ill look into a good one. Until then a beam scale is accurate and reliable. Besides I'm loading in a dillon 650 so all I need the scale for is setting my powder measure and spot checking it every once in a while.
