    Your Bullet Source

So, I've just started reloading 9mm and want to start reloading for my 1911. I was wondering where you guys get your bullets? I'm thinking of sticking to cast lead for the lower cost.

        Where are you located?

If you were to be shooting matches at WEGC, I could hook you up.

Funny, that's where mine came from until I got some 8-10 cav HG molds.
I still use my other molds for small batches of stuff.

BTW, casting was the only way I found to garrentee that I get the same bullets every time and thus, I don't need to keep changing my loads. Of course, if TSHTF, there won't be one car in my neighborhood with balanced tires.

How so? I just bought 1000 winchester bullets off of midway for like 75 bucks. 115 gr fmj's. You have any connections that are reasonably better than that? I just went with midway because they had the berger bullets that i needed on sale at the time.

Montana Gold gets their bullets from Golden West Brass which is located here in SoCal. It would be cheaper for you to buy them direct if you are located near El Monte.

The hardest part about casting for me is finding a good source of free lead. The act of casting bullets for me is almost a zen buddist state of being... but if you are thinking of trying it then check out:

Afraid of a little molten lead?
You won't make the mistake of putting a cold or wet ladle into the pot more than once.

I cast for my low volume cartridges like 41mag and 44mag, but it's not worth my time to cast for 9mm and 45 for what I can get the bullets for pre-made.

hahaha - yeah that's just asking for snap crackle pop...

                              afraid of molten lead, no.

not willing to spend the time popping out 2 bullets at a time - yes.
