    Recommend me a good scale

So I'm using the Lee Safety Scale and recently got the Hornady Electronic Scale. The Lee scale works pretty well but it's a bit slow so that's why I brought the Hornady Electronic Scale. But when I started using it I noticed it jumps around by up to 4 tens of a grain. I'm definately not happy with that especially when doing pistol loads. What scale is everybody else using?

This replaced my Ohaus when it died, $19, good to +/- .016 grains.

I use this small Frankford Arsenal one and seems to work fine.

Used to own a RCBS Chargemaster Combo which is quite nice too.

            My personal favorite.

RCBS 505 will work fine also, just not as nice as the 1010.

You are not using your electric balance properly!

I'm willing to bet that you have it directly connected to household current that fluctuates, right? First, use a UPS to stabilize the fluctuating power. Then, you need to warm it up for a while. Most people I know warm theirs up for hours, days or just leave them on. You'll also need to look around your balance for other things that will cause it to fluctuate. You need to remove florescent lights, speakers, magnets, phones, cel phones, etc. from the area around you electronic balance and keep it away from the slightest breezes too.

That said, any analog scale should work just fine. I have a couple RCBS ones and a Dillion one too. I normally use a Denver Instrument electronic balance or my RCBS chargemaster combo though.

Of the 3 scales I have. Dillon terminator. RCBS. Charge master dispencind and the 10-10. The 10-10 is the only one I trust 100%.

The thing I love about the RCBS 1010, besides its 100% reliability, is the length of the beam. It makes extremely accurate weighing a breeze as a .1gr becomes obvious at a glance.

Another reason to buy an RCBS beam scale, I broke one of the pivots off my old 1010 and called CS to find out if I could buy a replacement beam. I explained I had broken it, they sent me a whole new scale, free of charge!

I have an older O'Haus 10-10 scale, they also either make the RCBS, or sold the rights to RCBS to make that scale. I believe that it's the best scale for the money. But an RCBS 505 is purdy dang good too!

Thanks guy, it sounds like the 10-10 comes highly recommended. This might be my next purchase

Well the Hornady Electronic Scale is actually battery powered and it has fresh batteries. I don't think I can warm it up since it has auto shut off. I'll try to ckear my workbench of everything else the next time I do a weigh in to see if things improves. I've worked with electronic scales in labs but this is the first time I ever tried to get tenth of a grain precision.
