Will ammo prices come down?

maybe for ar's but not for ammo. those who bought ar's and whatnot need to feed em. so prices for ammo will stay high. although they're not at $1 per round except for calguns....and no lowballing, you will be ignored...

This looks like the oil bubble & tech bubble trend. I hope ammo prices will react the same as how the oil & tech stocks tanked. The way it looks, it may...

Oil, tech, and housing bubbles are very different from ammo shortage. Ammo have almost indefinite shelf life, and get used up everyday. Oil are not stored for very long. Tech stocks were just smoke. And houses don't disappear. There was a bubble for AR. Not so much for ammo.

And please, don't blame new shooters for driving up prices. They are not dumb. They just have to pay more for availability. They are willing to part with more money to get ammo now, rather than wait it out with all the uncertainties. Maybe their time is more valuable doing something else than hunting for cheap ammo. Maybe they want to shoot now, or willing to bet that ammo will be more expensive, or lack of access in the future. Same thing for sellers. When price increase high enough, people are more willing to part with their precious ammo. Opportunity cost ! There are many people out there who bought ammo for their own use and never though about selling them for a profit. But when prices are high enough, they would sell to finance other things that are more important to them. These people help ease the shortage by providing temporary supply beyond what manufactures can provide. However, in the long term, when price remain high, there will be more and more supply diverted form other parts of the world. Like 2008, 2009, Walmart was selling European RWS 9mm. For these extra supply to come in, price have to remain higher than before the shortage.

I'd say maybe 6 months from now ammo will be available, but prices won't come back to prepanic level in 18-24 months. And that's for the free USA. In Calif, all bets are off.

Not saying new shooters are dumb, I stated that new shooters need ammo. (If that was directed towards me) and I also stated that those shooters who did not stock up also need ammo. That doesn't make them dumb. I can understand wanting to shoot. It took me a few years to attain what I have now. I feel for those just getting into the sport. Hang in there and if its there buy it.

I didnt direct my comment at any one. Im sorry if my comment make u feel defensive. I dont like the way many people ( not in this thread) imply that its not smart to buy ammo now, and its unethical to offer to sell a higher price than what big online retailers are offering. Simply put, people value ammo more than the amount of money that they parted, why would they sell it if there is no motivation to do so?
