So I went through the stuff a little more thoroughly. The 38spc seater die is actually missing the die parts, and is basicly only the threaded tube.. I am missing the cap for the powder measure and a broken/cracked primer.. uhh word escapes me at the moment (has little leaf spring.)

I've read lots of good things about rcbs customer service, do you think they will replace the missing and broken parts even though its second hand? Does anyone have experience with this? Should I mention second hand at all? I will first try to contact the guy which I had gotten parts from, but I doubt it...

here are the dies it came with, and then my question:
rcbs 38spc 3 piece die set
        rcbs 357 seater die
        rcbs 38 acp/super 3 piece set
rcbs 30/30 fl 2 piece set
        rcbs 30/30 trim die set

a friend has been telling me that 38/357 are and use the same dies, my question is why would i have a seperate "357 seater die" and also, i dont see any "carbide" stamping on my dies, and i would really prefer not to lube ever single case if i have to. what do you guys suggest to do about finding carbide dies to switch over. and i do not need 38super dies.. what could i get for that?

RCBS has wonderful customer service and will likely fix or replace anything that is wrong.

I guess the only question I have is if you are going to be OK with having them fix something for free that you obviously are not going to keep, just to go buy their competitors product? To me, that is pretty slimey.

I can prefer a porsche 911, but I'm stuck with an old vw bug that works just fine.... I really don't appreciate being called "slimey" or anything else for that matter, and an apology with "I guess" isn't any better.

Never did I mention buying dillon lee lyman ect.. if I were to sell my current dies, I'd like to stick with same parts as my press.

I have acknowledged that if I was wrong about your intentions that it was my bad.

In the post above, you asked whether you should be honest with RCBS about the origin of the dies you bought second hand. Perhaps I miss read that question as well, maybe your intentions are totally honorable and I am totally wrong about them. For me, honesty and honor is not a sliding scale, based on what free stuff I might be able to extract from a company based on what information I might provide or not.

But again, if I am wrong about your intentions and character, please accept my apology, only you can know whether that apology applies.

Accepted now, with out the "I guess".. its alright. I have broken parts... which shouldn't matter if I broke them or someone else did, warranty should be warranty. Some places dishonor their warranty after things were bought second hand, and in my eyes that's bull. I don't expect them to replace missing parts someone else lost firsthand... but if they did great! I don't mind buying small replacement pieces, even though the lot I bought should have been complete. Part my fault as I am not too familiar with reloading at this point and could not inspect thuroughly before paying.
