With the powder shortage, you have to pick up what you can when you can. Generally, I like H335, but as we know, it's like a unicorn at this point. I am experimenting w/ different powders and my lgs has a buttload of reloader7 on the shelves. I have done a little research and have come up with a few results, but i can't really come up with any conclusions. What i've learned is that it is a fast burning powder, loads seem to be in the 20.0-21.5gr range. i'll be running it through an AR with 1:7 twist and using 55gr hornady fmj's. any help, thoughts or experience with this powder through a similar rifle as mine would be appreciated. thanks.

Never tried it, but I've seen numerous reviews that r7 works great with lighter bullets.
R7 with 55 fmjbt using charge weights in the high 20gr range is suppose to compares to H335 in the high 24gr range...Last edited by MIAMIbaseballer; 04-06-2013, 8:25 AM.It's ok to be jealous. I just loaded up 700 rounds with R7 and Dogtown 55gr JHP and have shot about 200 rounds with it through my AR. I charged them up with21.5gr22gr of powder and have zero cycling issues and the grouping was sub MOA out of my 1/9 bull barrel.
I too could only find R7 on the shelf and it actually worked out quite well but once my orders of Varget and H335 come in I'll be back to using them.Last edited by Bug Splat; 04-06-2013, 3:34 PM.Comment

I have experience with Re-7, using 37.0 grains pushing a 110 gr .308 Sierra in my Remy model 700. Clean firing no problems feeding with the bolt action. I use these for varmint control.Comment

Ok so I picked up a lb of reloader7 I like the way it shoots but....as I have read in my research, occasionally I would have some cycling probs. I loaded it up to 20.8 21.5. Issues with the 20.8 and a few with 21.5 but not as many. So the plan is to go to 22. I can't seem to find a max load for it. Any suggestions? Tia. juat dawned on me that i was running an st-2 buffer. maybe the load was not strong enough to cycle it due to the buffer? hmmm back to the lab and a change to a carbine buffer may do the trick....#blackriflesmatter

Thanks. I think Reloader 10x is a better choice. Can't find it anywhere lately though. Wish I'd stocked up on rifle powders like I did with the pistol stuff.
