I use lube on every piece of brass that touches the dies, even though mine are carbide, it just makes me feel like they will last longer. 5.56 brass without lube made me uncomfortable...

I never lube pistol or straight wall cases in a carbide die. I do believe is you did lube the cases it might make it easier. But then I would have to clean each case after I don't think it's worth it. But try them both out and find what works for you.

You have to lube the cases unless you have carbide dies, light lube with carbide dies is nice if you want lube. [ Rifle cases need lube even with carbide dies]

The only time I've ever used a lube for 9mm brass while sizing it with a carbide sizing die is when I was using the Lee hand press. Since it did not have enough leverage to push and pull the case, the lube made it more easy for me. But if have a full size press then no need to.

I only use carbide type dies for my 9mm/45acp/357mag/44mag brass and have never used lube. That is the reason I use the carbide dies that cost more to buy.
