Something irritating that I noticed about Natchez...

I always hated that Natchez had high shipping.

Yesterday I saw they had primers in stock so I figured, okay so what, I will try to order them.

Turns out I was limited to only like 2 boxes.

Okay so 2 boxes (oh they had two sizes) of EACH for a total of 4 boxes.

    so 4 boxes at 34.99 + 19.00 shipping + 27.50 hazmat = $46 a box (I have been tasked with obtaining about 12k sr and sp primers)

By the time that anyone posts that Natchez has any primers in stock they are most likely sold out anyways.

I think it is a bit of a dick move to limit people to 2 or so boxes when you charge them $17+ for shipping and then do not forget that there is a hazmat fee on top of that. There must be some seriously desperate people out there if they are REALLY paying that much for them.

It also seems like Natchez is making them available once or twice a day in small amounts. I think they are milking this for as much as they can get out of people so this just further negafies my image of them and their business...

Anyone else get that same feeling with them?

I've never ordered anything from them, their shipping is high. Midway, Grafs, brownells, widners, PVI have better prices and shipping.

I guess you weren't around for the 08 crisis.

People were paying shipping and hazmat for 1 box!

        DAMN.

That is freaking high. Yes, I only started reloading early last year.

I am spoiled with PVI and their shipping really, 13k primers + powders and only like $16 in shipping...

But I always hear people say good things about Natchez anyways. I just figured that maybe I got a bad first impression. Looks like a bad second, third and fourth also...

I think they are the CTD of reloading suppliers... (and that is LOW)

It sucks, but look at the bright side; if they didn't do that, the gougers would be buying up all of the primers and selling them to you for $65/bx, instead of the $46/bx you paid yesterday. For what it's worth, Cabela's did not have a limit when I ordered from them earlier this month. Still came out to $39/bx after shipping and hazmat, but it beats the alternative.

I have used Natchez quite a bit lately (but not for primers, as I have boatloads).

Frankly, I never sweat the S&H all that much when buying online. Gas here in SF is in the mid-4's per gallon and my Yukon can't go very far on one gallon. In addition, when I go to one of my favorite shooting spots, the bridge tolls are more than $10, so an addional $5 for S&H for something I want for my hobby, I am not going to sweat it.

Things that bother me are like what is happening in Cyprus, freezing depositor funds and levying a 40% tax spontaneously. Then hearing an EU official say it was a template for future bank bailouts. But then, I get a good laugh when some Wall Street type says that could never happen here.. Yeah right. That is the stuff that bothers me.

There were jokers selling single bricks of primers in the CGN marketplace for as much as $100 last time.

That's when I decided to start keeping a 2-year supply of all necessary components in reserve, all the time, so I can wait the crazy times out.

This better not last more than 2 years!

I was going to order a hornady shellplate from natchez. $28 for the plate and $17 shipping for something that weighs ounces. I can wait.

                    natchez

ive gotten some great deals from natchez over the years...wait for there sales and you can come out ahead with shipping included (no sales tax )....having a limit on primers has its good and bad points ---but there not making money on hazmat shipping i believe...i havent had any probs with them..... but right now is not the right time to be buying much of anything ---unless you really have no choice..... cheers...

If you spend ALOT. Then the shipping will become somewhat resonable. But if you have to have it now.... big bucks is reasonable. Hence the mess were in.

I agree natchez is usually a great deal if you are stocking up on a lot of items. But if you are buying a few small items they will kill you on shipping. I try and stay away from natchez shipping + hazmat items because it really is too unreasonable. But if you do compare there item prices they are well below grafs, midway, cabelas.....

The other thing that bugs me with natchezss, besides high shipping cost, is once you place the order online..your done. You get a confirmation notice of the order, then something when they ship it, but no way to go back and look up what you ordered, no way to check the status or anything. In between placing the order and them finally shipping it out you are total darkness.

i was able to buy 5 cases of small pistols primers yesterday from Natz, cost me $45 per 1000 after shippping and hazmat. Not to bad considering local gun shop sells them for $40 but they havent had them for weeks and have no idea when they are coming in.

Maybe I am just a spoiled brat at this point but I would not have *****ed about this if I was allowed to buy 10k primers at $35 because at least THEN it makes it a bit easier to take. I just have a line of $39 that I do NOT want to cross when it comes to primers that are not wolf or tula.

Wolf or Tula that line is $29 per 1000.

It is like shipping with USPS or UPS. For a small box (like 2.5lbs of pins to clean your shells) USPS flat rate $5.80 is ideal way to ship. But you try to send that to chicago through ups and it is like $15.

Natchez might be good if you buy a lot. I am going to bet that if you were able to buy 14k primers from them that shipping would only be like $20 and THAT is fine, but $20 shipping for 4k and hazmat just magnifies the higher price. Would be nicer if they started them more at pre-panic prices. They are having no issues selling them out anyways (yeah yeah go capitalism...)

AND, all of this is fine, This is why I do not shop with them, I am really hating that gunbot tells me that they have primers and I get there and I am already NOT able to buy 5 but stuck at 3, MEANWHILE, I can buy 10k primers from that other place as long as they are LPM primers at $29.33 (which is FINE for my Deagle...).

Anyways. Okay I think it is out of my system. Sometimes I wish I could just wave a wand and halt all buying of a product and see what happens to the price...
