Realoading 9mm Hornady XTP 124gr help

I loaded a bacth and kind of screwed up. I have two boxes of Hornady xtp, one at 115 gr and another 124 gr. When I prepped all my cases and I charged them using the data for the 115gr and snagged the 125gr when I started seating them.
I used federal cases, Federal Match SP Primers, loaded withe 4.0 gr of IMR 700x and my OAL is set at 1.32. I looked up data but found nothing specific. The only data I could maybe give a shot is one used for 125 gr which range from 2.9-3.6 gr of 700x. Unfortunately this is the only powder I have been able to get my hands on, which is why I'm strictly using 700x data.
Should I just buy a bullet puller and start over? Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank You

Yes you should. Max load for 125gr is 3.4 of 700x according to my data, and at 4.0 gr you're running at a dangerous level. Pull and recharge, because you're minimum load for the 115gr is the max load for 125gr. I think you should pull, separate, and reload- unless, of course, you can spare to lose a gun and a few fingers

Dude. Like he said, get a $14 bullet puller and yank those suckers and start over and work up a load.

You won't be the first! :-D I screwed up, uh, a thousand? primed 223 cases LOL and had to disassemble 150 rounds or so with pliers as I got tired of the bullet puller.

You won't make this mistake again LOL Hey, we've all done it. At least you didn't mix up rifle and pistol powder, a real kaboom waiting to happen!!!

edit: you know how to work up a load, right? start at min (I do min minus 10% but that s just me) then go up in increments until you get proper cycling etc? smarter than me have posted about it so you're better off googling

Also, spend the $20 extra and get the collet bullet puller from hornady. It's better than the hammers by far

          +1 and DAMN STRAIGHT.

Unless you shoot with a guy that you do not like, sneak some into his supply and see how they shoot out of his gun.

If you can get it done without leaving a mark that would be good. Else I would opt for a kinetic puller because it is cheaper and I am cheap even if it takes about 10 seconds more per round to pull...

Well I use it on my progressive press, and honestly I've never left a mark on any rounds after I got it dialed in. It's GTG

I agree with those that said to pull them apart, the pressure spikes up at an incredible rate. The amount of damage to the weapon and you is not worth the risk.

BTW, OAL for a 9mm should be about 1.130" not 1.30"

Yes I meant 1.130, thank you for all your input! going to get a bullet puller and start over, definitely going to avoid making the same mistake again. Thanks again

                        We have all been there

I have pulled 200+ bullets looking for a couple of squibs, downside of a progressive, you can make allot of mistakes.. or in this case they fell in a bin
                        full of freshly loaded ammo

I have worn out my first bullet puller ( 20 years old ) , just ordered another

Never hesitate to pull any bullet(s)

When in doubt, pull it out

I'm wanting to load up some 9mm Hornady 124gr XTP. I'm using Winchester 231, and the Hodgdon website gives data for 124 Sierra FMJ at 4.4-4.8.

I see that a heavier 147gr XTP takes only 3-3.4 and a lighter 115 SPR GDHP takes 4.7-5.1. It seems counter intuitive, until you consider the bullet is determining how much volume is left in the shell and that effects the pressure. Right?

What's a good starting load & likely max for 231? Also, what should my OAL be?

I've got a couple older manuals, but neither of them list 231 in any 9mm loads. Hornady's reloading app also doesn't list 231 (or HP38) in the powders for their 124 XTP. Hodgdon says for the 124 Hornady HAP (similar to XTP) to start at 2.8 and max 3.3 (maybe because it's not intended to be a defensive round?).

advice is appreciated even if it's just a reference for where to find the info myself.

The 125gr hap bullet is longer than the xtp .59 vs .576 so hodgdon data has the hap actually seated slightly deeper than the xtp although not by much. The hap bullet is also .356 vs 355 for the xtp. You should be alright using the hodgdon hap data though.
