    12 guage

Any recommendations for 12 guage shells for home protection. I'm kind of new to this.

    Thanks

First round Birdshot followed by low-recoil Buck, and a low-recoil slug on the saddle for optional tac-load.

          Here we go again!

ETA: Ok, I'll at least try to be helpful. I prefer 00 buck, with slugs on hand just in case. Whatever you do, stay away from the magnum loads. Getting back on target quickly is far more important than a few extra pellets.

I load #1 buck in low recoil for my home use. From commercial, if you can find Federal #1 Buck with their flight control wad, I would use this over my own loads. You likely won't find it, but if you do buy all you can afford.

Failing the above, Remington Managed Recoil 00 Buck pattern as well as any Buckshot loads I have tested (other than the Federal Flight Control wad rounds)

Natchez seems to get the Remington in stock quite frequently and will email you when it comes in after being old out.

            Good luck.

              Good point!

I stagger my home mags as well - then theres the slug mags.

I am not aware of any serious professional training organization that would recommend this approach for a defensive shotgun.

                            +1

If you HAVE to pull the trigger then this will jack them up, if you HAVE to pull the trigger again, then this will hopefully finish them.

The first being bird shot is good because in the event that you miss or wing them (pun intended) the colateral damage is minimal and over penetration is almost impossible. It is like a firearms ladder of force all in one. Usually though just racking the shotty is all you need.

                              # 4 buck. Theres a lesser chance of over penetration as compared to 00. Low recoil if a pump gun. Standard 2 3/4 if not.
