The ONLY complaint that I can give about my Lee Classic Turret is that it is sometimes hard to prime with Tula primers for LP. I wish it had more mechanical advantage to make them feel like federals. OMG federals are like the female primers, they are always just so soft you only need two fingers on the stick...

I'd skip the 550 and get the 650. Here's why, auto index. You just need to pull the handle and set a bullet in the case. If you do a ton of shooting, you can add a case feeder and case trimmer down the line.

I just ordered the Lee Load-Master earlier today from MidWay and already got a UPS tracking number. All the kits are back ordered, but the press by itself was available. I already have my die sets, so I only needed to order the turret, shell plate, primer feeder, and case feeder separately... which coincidentally came out cheaper than buying the entire kit.

I can't wait till it gets here.

I dunno about the kit, but the press itself is great. Get a small amount of some synthetic oil and put a drop or so on the ram cause it helps things go smoother apparently. :\

if you ordered your dies from FSreloading then you should have them in about a week or week and a half usually. They are quick to ship and get things in all the time. I do not get that place, but it is the BEST for general sales of Lee stuff.
Thank you Stilly for the info on FSreloading... I just browsed their site and find them to be extremely competitive with their prices. I happily saved their link into my reloading favorites.

          Thanks again.

You will never go wrong with any single stage press,

That said, if I could do it over, I would have started with the Dillon 650 or the Hornady LnL AP - either with a case feeder (a must).

The 550 is a TON cheaper when you do caliber conversions, btw. Fewer parts involved.

That having been said, I have a 550, 650, and 1050. I use the 1050 just for 223, the 550 mostly does 357 Magnum (more portable) and the 650 is the main workhorse. I also do single stage (Lee hand press) for oddball calibers.

Before you go ordering a bunch of caliber conversions though, use this to figure out what all you actually need... you may find several of those conversions use most of the same parts. http://gunwiki.net/apps/calconversion/

I would start out with either a single stage, or a turret. The reason being is even after you buy a progressive, you will still be able to use your single stage for small batches of ammo you want to reload. Converting calibers on progressives takes time, and you're not going to want to switch calibers to do 100 rounds of 7.55 Swiss.

I would suggest the Redding turret press. I got a Redding press for my Brother and it's a wonderful piece of equipment!

No prob. I found it by myself one night before I was a reloader and did not care too much about it and then I saw it mentioned here after I was a reloader and low and behold, it was a great site...
