    Universal Brass Catcher

Anyone use one of these brass catchers at an indoor range and is it effective?

Nah I just use one if these when the range is busy and I don't feel like chasing cases,

Some people have some really weird definitions on how to look cool at the range.... I don't go there to look cool, but what ever floats your boat GooseGun
You kick a donkey enough and it will bite you. Yep its on the net look it up.

I just use one of these. I haven't bent over to pick up brass in forever!

If you are shooting indoors, my nephew and I use one of these. The Nat II. Works fine.

I use the rolly thing "Brass wizard" or whatever. I used to just sweep and scoop, but this is nice. It's pricey, but I don't want to bend over and it's good for sneaking brass back from in front of you if it rolls across the line.

The Nat II looks OK, some of the ranges I go to barely even have a shelf to put your ammo on.

What's ridiculous is having to stop shooting because a guy with his two young daughters sets up in the lane next to you and your brass is hitting his 8 yr old. In fact, Sac Valley now has those to rent.

Rather than buy one, I chose to make mine. Replacement netting from the fishing dept of a sporting goods store. Comes already with a loop to slide over the aluminum fishing net handle. Some 1/2 PVC pipe and a scrap steel bar for the base. I threaded the hole in the base to match the thread of my camera stand, but mostly I use it without the stand and sit it on the bench.

Why buy (and spend an absurd amount) when you can make?!

Here's mine out of a dollar store laundry bag and aluminum angle from the HD. Couple nuts and bolts and that's it. Mounted on a budget camera tripod. And still cheaper than the CTK "pool cleaner".

And the Brass Wizard is awesome too. Keeps you from looking like a chicken pecking around the ground.
                    Which is embarrassing!

They can't prevent you from taking your own brass. That isn't theirs, its yours. I've even gone as far as to ask other shooters to pick up their brass and than give them a $5 for their 100-200 pieces of brass. Ya the range isn't cool with it, but how can they stop you??

This is part of what is wrong with this state. This is why they made the "DIET" Snickers Bar... IF YOU ARE FAT YOU NEED NOT EAT CANDEH!
If you are worried about kids getting pelted by range brass then STAY THEM AWAY FROM TEH RANGE!

The only type of brass catcher that I would want is one mounted to the top of my deagle or g-21 to catch the 44 and 10mm that go flying. BUT the truth is that that would look pretty lame. I have to settle for trying to watch where my deagle throws brass two lanes over and then scramble for them at the end of that mag.

Anything mounted on a tripod or stand for an indoor range would be too big and clumsy, MAYBE outside might be better...

Have made my own out of old PVC sprinkler pipe, and a fat .50 cal ammo can. Got some fittings and cut the pipe into lengths, funnel will be attached to the net and drain into the pipe, with a hole in the lower section to drop the shells directly into the can. All fits into the can, and still leaves room for brass. Still looking for some netting (might try the fishing net replacement mentioned in earlier post) to use as the catch part.

Don't care if it looks cool or not. Im old enough to know that regardless of how cool you think you look, someone out there thinks you look like a dork! And, if you think you look cool, you are probably a dork! Hahaha!

Tired of sweeping and scooping. Now I just need another hand to carry my guns/gear and the ammo can. Hahaha.
                            Sorry, not sorry.
