Lee turret vs Lee classic turret

Both are for sale at Cabela's, and many other retailers. Cabela's website says the Lee turret will be in stock tomorrow, the Classic Turret sometime in May.

Would really like to upgrade from the breech-lock single stage we've been using for about 6 months now, and not ready for a progre$$ive.

I'd gladly pay the $30 difference, if the classic were available anywhere, but is the regular 4-hole press going to be regrettable? I'm having some difficulty determining what exactly is the difference between the two.

If you can wait for the classic version you will probably like it better. I have owned both and prefer the classic. Its base is cast iron vs. aluminum in the standard version. The linkage is more stout on the classic and the used primer collection is better too.

Agreed, the Classic Turret is simply a considerably more sturdily-built machine. I have not only a CTP, but also a couple of Pro 1000's, which are built on the "regular" Turret Press body. There's just no comparison in the beefiness, strength, and smoothness of the machines. Don't get me wrong; the regular Turret makes mighty fine ammo, and you don't "need" the Classic Turret to make terrific ammo, but oh boy, the CTP sure is nice. The improved collection of spent primers alone is worth it. The leverage is improved, and it'll do the larger rifle cartridges much more easily, even with Auto-Index, than the regular Turret.

If you can wait, hold out for the CTP.

The Lee Classic turret press is the way to go. Much better, and will do rifle bottle neck cartridges, as the deluxe press is much shorter and has problems with tall cartridges.

Good point on the tall cartridges -- I have the aluminum and while it is a good press it is awkward to load 06 on it -- Fine for 308, etc --

+1 to EVERYONE that said CLASSIC.

I got the classic and I think it will do taller shells as well as being hella cool to operate.

But ya know what? I think the handle needs to be a few inches longer. I noticed that since I stopped reloading .44 mag and .45 for about a week or so that my arm does not hurt nearly as much.

Classic though is the ONLY way to fly. Plus it looks better. And if you have a way to treat the metal then by all means do that as soon as you set it up. My posts started rusting about 10 months after I set it up and I ended up putting some of that johnsons paste wax on them but I wanna make the silver part blue or maybe titanium nitride oxidacios color or whatever... Case Hardened would be sweet too...

I have the handle on mine about three inches shorter than it could be and it works fine for me.
