I recently purchased a new laptop after my old one died, it's running Win7 64 bit. I downloaded the updated CED software, but unfortunately it would not recognize the CED unit when attached. Turns out this is a known problem with a variety of solutions, from my emails with CED...
If this is a concern for you, best bet is to contact CED directly at Phone: (888) 628-3233, (610) 366-9752, Fax: (610) 366-9680.
How do I decide whether to upgrade my M2 Chronograph or not?
If your main unit is newer than Jan. 1, 2010 then it can be updated. If it is older, it cannot! The serial number on the bottom will allow us to know the answer to this.
Second, it can only be done by us. We have special equipment that allows us to reprogram the main unit. Thus, you must return the main unit (only) to us for this to be done.
If your system is older than 2010 AND you do not need to download the Data Collector to a Windows 7 or newer PC, then you do not need to upgrade as it may not be worth the postage and costs based depending on your location, especially if internationally based. If your system is 2011 or newer and / or you need to download to Windows 7 and you use your system for Archery or shotgun, then it is worth you to upgrade. The upgrade cost is US$15.00 plus the return postage.
If your system is older than 2010, and we cannot upgrade it, we will allow a main unit TRADE-IN with a 40% discount (special only). In this case, you could mail the main unit to our USA office and they would send you a new one. The price would then be US$73.00 plus return postage.
We hope this helps you in your decision and direction.
