    Polymer Coating Bullets

Anyone here tried poly coating their own bullets? I see bayoubullets.net is selling coating kits for bullet casters.

I wonder if this will hold up to rifle velocities of 2500+ fps.

That guy is cool and I heard good things about his bullets. Send him an e-mail because I asked him about his speeds a long time ago but I forgot. He is quick to reply and a nice guy.

No. They are some type of polymer coating and they only come in lime green I think, or seafoam green or whatever. I almost got some 44 mags from him once.

HOLY **** he updated his website!

They are GREEN HORNET green now!

Send Donnie an e-mail, he does respond pretty quick, especially considering things how they are right now.

As for bullets, he's backordered 7-8 weeks on all bullets right now.

Those are excellent bullets coated with HYTEK or HITEK bullet coatings. I forget which
They will shoot like plated bullets in most cases with the cost of hard cast lead bullets.
They smoke less than traditional style lube grove or tumble lube bullets.

These types of bullets are what most Australians shoot in IPSC matches. They also have custom colors over there to match their styles.

I wonder why these coatings haven't caught on in the US.

I found a thread in castboolits talking about this.

Here is a link to the summary of the process: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/show...=1#post1975616

Sorry to thread jack, but others may have the same question. Does the polymer on Bayou Bullets coat barrels like moly does? I use plated and want to try these. Also wanted to try moly, but read moly will coat the barrel and is very difficult to remove. Poster recommend not to use them if planning to shoot plated or FMJs. Thanks.

This post, and the few following it seems to suggest that problems with moly coating is not present in poly coated bullets.
