    Got Lucky on Some Dies

Wheew, after checking a lot of sights for .223 dies finally found some pacesetter dies for $55 on amazon. It was crazy when I ordered mine they had 30 sets and when I checked again 30 minutes later they were sold out already. That was all I needed to start reloading .223. Hope you guys are finding what you need it almost seems to be one of those right place right time things.

I found the same problem. No one has sets so I started looking at single dies "In Stock". Surprisingly, you can get almost everything you want if you are willing to buy from different vendors and manufacturers. I read a bunch of reviews and settled on my dies from RCBS and Redding.

My order just shipped from Brownells for the RCBS X-Die and a Redding Bullet Comp Seating die. I didnt need the Comp seater but for the AR platform, guys swear it will make the most consistent ammo.

I fortunately bought my Hornady #16 shellplate back before the SHTF and got it for $29. Last night on eBay there were 3 of them for over $100 and the one closest to ending was $150 buuuucks
Guess a bunch of guys got their press for xmas and forgot to buy a .223 shellplate.

BTW, if anyone is desperate for one but doesnt want to pay cr@ploads of dough on a $30 shellplate PM and I'll tell you how to get one.

Congrats. I'll 2nd what El Toro is saying. You need to shop around because product is flowing in & out at vendors, not in days but hours. Picked up a set of 7.62 x 53/54 RCBS dies lastnight and some Hornady 303 .312 pills to feed my Mosin family. I got lucky on the timing, but you just need to keep looking.
Good luck and happy reloading. -g

I guess I'm really lucky. I decided last week that I was going to buy another set of dies for my single stage, looked for Lee - everything sold out. For $9 more I ordered the RCBS set and got it today in the mail. Got mine from Cabelas, and wasn't panic shopping. Just purchased the lee factory crimp die as I was typing this from MidwayUSA.

Thing is you have to shop around.

I'd say dies are the easy part. Any luck on components? Went to 3 local shops this weekend and not one bottle of powder or brass to load 223. A smattering of bullets but nothing for plinking.

Shell plates? Do you mean Shell Holders? RCBS Shell holders are only $10.00 and I have found a number of them up north.

The shell holders for 223 / 556 is #10 for RCBS.

Shellplates are used for progressive presses
