can you melt down car batteries and skim off the acid?
Check smaller tire stores. We get 5 gallon buckets full for $15. For pistol bullets, I usually just cast straight wheel weights, quenched out of the mould into water. Just hard enough with good lube to not lead.

I haven't started to melt my own yet but the local range in my town will let you salvage lead off the range after the session is over if you're a member of the club. Also free brass for the taking. Old lead bullets are already correct for making bullets and are cleaner so you do less skimming (or so they tell me).
I get primers at Sportsman's Warehouse for 100 for 2.99 but I haven't shopped around for them. I don't load enough ammo to justify it. I load lead SWC's in 200g from the Sportsman's I think it was $40 for 500 right now. It's still cheaper in my est. then buying factory ammo.

I find the lasercast do lead my barrel a bit. Regardless, I like them. I use 4.6 grains of Bullseye and 200 grains round nose lasercast bullets. You can use less powder (4grains) and it is a nice plinking round however I like a little kick.

Have you checked out Fowler guns in Tustin? it's not that far from MoValley.
it's a neat place to check out.
I think buying the heads online ex:Midway is the best way to go, (nice & cheap) but if your buying small amounts of powder like 1lbs. then just buy it @ Fowler. save money on that extra charge for shipping.
