416 Barrett reloading issues

My biggest problem with the .416 Barrett would be getting my eyeballs back into my head after firing.

I may have been a hair or thousands off on by bullet measuring. I bought a new micrometer and the bullet is measuring right at .415. Loaned the old micrometer one to the guys at work.
I pulled the sizing die apart, measured the plunger and sanded about 1.5 thousands off of it, down to .413. Seated a bullet and it worked fine - perfect, very happy. This was on my second try, the first one, I forgot to lube the inside neck of the case and the plunger got stuck. Had to use a dremmel to get it out - another case gone.
Everthing is looking good, so I tried to chamber a finished round minus powder and primer in the gun and no go. Double checked it with a factory Barrett round, no problem, factory round chambers smooth. Tried to make another cartridge adding more cam over to the process, ripped the screws out of the reloading table on the single press. I can't get to much cam over with this single stage press

Forgot to mention, 2nd cartridge still does not chamber in the gun. Mrkubota, sounds like we are pretty close, I am here in the Chino area and may need some help.

I've only fired one little .416. It was a friend's custom built bench gun on a Mc Bros action. When I fired it the first time, I thought it was a misfire. The lack of recoil was spooky. So, what kind of gun did you shoot?

I have a Zel Custom upper on a AR modified lower with a 32 inch math barrel. Recoil is surprisingly nill, must be the large compensator on the end. My 300 win mag kicks a heck of a lot more.

Get some rounds loaded up! I'm going too try to get to Angeles next weekend with my 50BMGs and it would be fun to have you little .416 there too.

BTW, there's a reason my 300WM stays in the safe. It's a shoulder breaker!

I'm trying - I think I am heading out to West End Gun Club tomorrow to shoot the "Little" 416 with the few factory Barrett loads I still have.
