I hate to cut in here, but as the OP stated, prices are getting out of my league.. I'm very comfortable loading rifle cartridges, but some of the things i've heard about the sensitivities and pressure curves has intimidated me from heading down the pistol reloading path.... Just how RISKY is it??

      9mm loads

The Outdoor Marksman use to sell +p & +p+ ammo.
      Online or 503-399-5463

The other option is a different caliber. Many GREAT calibers to choose from. Components & affordable, well that's another story.

Just watch your Ps and Qs, pay attention to your load data, work up your max loads as you would any other and you will do just fine.
The only thing with real small capicity cases like the 9mm is that they are more sensitive to changes like primer substutions or using a diffrent case. When I work up a load for say IMI brass, and then switch to a diffrent brand like say WIN, I start from the starting load and work up to the max for that paticular brand of brass. Hope this helps to clarify my statement earlier.

LCSportsman, no I havent tried #7 in the 9, but have used it in the .45 auto and do like it in that role.

A lot of powders work fine for 9mm. Most duplicated factory rounds don't come near pressure peak levels anyways. More important is how you want the load to feel when making a powder choice. Softer shooting? Med to heavy bullet with a faster powder like BE or Clays. Wanna duplicate factory stuff? Titegroup or universal with lighter bullets. Pick your poison and have fun working up a load that's fun for you.

.356 bullets won't cause and issue if they're the right length for your barrel. Sounds like the load you tried was too long or a squib.

            9mm loads

            Thanks guys

Trial & error, stay low & work up. Will try out AA#7, Clays & Titegroup as I can. Let you know later...

I may use the 115's for paper & 124's for poppers.

            Good Shooting
