    .308 is EXPENSIVE!

I read about the Tactical Rifle Match that Calguns would be having and I thought about getting a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308 since .30cal was the minimum for the match. However, looking at prices for .308 I was shoked $16.99 for 20rds! Thats crazy! .223 wasn't much different either

How much is evereyone paying for .308/7.62x51?

It's so damn expensive I am considering sellinh my FAL, which I never shoot anymore cause I don't want to pay for ammo for it.

Which Tactical Match are you talking about?

If you reload, you can make "Match" loads for about $0.33 a piece.

$16.99 is pretty darn cheap if you're talking about "Match" loads. Cheapest you should be able to find those is about $20 per 20.

These are taget loads. The match loads were worse at $36.99/20.

Is it hard to reload? It could be an option.

$16.99 is NOT going to be match quality ammo.
            That's blasting fodder.

What Tactical match is Calguns having?

Who shoots matches and buys ammo - I guessing the match you're speaking of is the North / South shoot off - if so the max is 30 cal - you are welcome to shoot a lesser caliber as long as the respective team already has its minimal amount of 308 shooters.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

You will probably get a wide range of prices with so many online sellers to purchase from. Here are some prices I paid from my last ammo splurge (recent); Surplus ~.50cents a round. Match will run you about ~$1.00-$1.50 a round ...and then there is shipping costs to worry about. Still cheaper than buying from the local gun store. But the price will depend on what your shooting preferences are (plinking vs. competition) and what performance you expect from your ammo.
                    good luck.
btw, try ammoman(dot)com. Shipping is included in their prices. They are very prompt fullfilling their orders too.

Who is buying a PSS and buying ammo just this month and actually going to try to get into that match?
Perhaps he does not realize it's an invitational match?

                        Probably not.

Reloading is just about a must for serious precision riflers.

This is not ammo you'd want to burn up barrel life in a precision rifle.

I got a good deal on bullets so my 308 match ammo breaks down like this:

                              Per 20 rounds:
                              $2.00 Sierra 155 Matchking Bullets
$2.08 for 46.5gr of Hodgdon Varget
$0.24 for Federal 210 primers purchased years ago
$0.00 for once fired Federal Gold Medal Match brass that a buddy gives me

That works out to $4.32 per 20 rounds.
