I've got the same one and I twist it so that the opening almost touches my scope and the mesh hangs in front of the ejection port. This way it's more a brass deflector rather than a brass catcher and the brass just falls on my bench (or ground when prone).

If used as intended it causes stove pipes and ruins my brass



Eta: my local range loans out the same design brass catcher but made by Caldwell and they work well.

I like picking up brass cuz it slows my shooting down. But in the forest I just lay a big *** tarp down and just shoot next to it so all my brass flies on the tarp, fold it up, and dump in bucket when done....

There's a guy at my range that uses an oversized butterfly net. He has a 6"x6"x12" with a hole drilled into the side that he slips the handle into to use as a floor stand. He sets it up at the 4 o'clock position and seems to catch everything he shoots.

I made one out of kydex and a small bag, but it's for my marlin 1894c, no more losing brass. I hate chasing after it.

I have seen people use a hand towel over the scope and ejection port so the brass lands at their feet.

Also a fishing net on a stand.

You can also put a cardboard insert in a brass catcher so it does't droop and block the ejection port.

Aluminum angle frame and a dollar store mesh laundry bag. Mounted on a camera tripod.

Cheap and easy, and works fairly well. I'll try to take pics over the weekend.

Bought a $7.95 replacement fishing net at the local sporting goods store. Came with a loop around the front edge to rethread on to the net handle. I used some 1/2" PVC pipe left over from my sprinkler system. Four 90 degree elbows, one T-connector and 65" of straight pipe.

If you mount a 1/8" steel plate to the bottom, you can drill and tap it so you can use a camera tripod. I use the tripod for pistol shooting, but take it off and sit the net on the table for bench shooting with my rifles.

i upgraded the materials to a utility mesh and used zip ties to hold it instead of safety wire.

I got a beater tripod laying around so I can use that.

I got this and mounted it on a camera tripod when shooting in a standing position, it's nice but pain in the a-$-$ to position properly, sometimes it catches the brass and sometimes it won't!

I made a frame out of PVC and added some netting, problem is that they tend to bounce back rather than dropping down in the collector at the bottom. My preference is to use an easy up shade structure and attach a wall or two to keep the brass from getting to far away, it also keeps out the brass whores who would steal it from under your feet.

My tripod has the removable threaded mount. It makes for emptying the net much easier since you don't have to unscrew anything.
