    Primer fell out.

I had a primer fall out after firing today. It was still in the case when I removed it from my brass catcher and then just fell out. No other evidence of pressure issues on the brass. Fired 49 more of the same load and no further issues. This was second loading on this brass.

    Recipe:
    68gr Hornady hpbt
    25.5gr. Varget
    CCI #41
    2.240"

Indicative of anything other than improperly seated primer?

That or maybe it was over swaged.

"If in doubt, throw it out."

No need to take chances. Safety must be the #1 concern. I'd flatten it and put it in the brass recycling bin.

I have seen that with the "FC" headstamp more than once.

It s not your load nor any pressure issues. Just a bad primer pocket.

Yes, FC brass is my least favorite for .223/5.56.

a buddy of mine sugest to use thinned out nail polish and a syringe to keep primers from falling out.

              he's an old school guy.

Is this similar to what they can be sealed with (when I see sealed cartridges), even on the cannelure/crimp, or what else can be used?

always wondered what the colored circle around the primers on factory rounds was.

he told me it was just for sealing not holding the primer in. my mistake.

yeah but sealing might help to hold it in also. That was what I figured. I saw the sealed stuff for sale at midway too so that when I reload my 44 mag for my underwater scues spec ops I can rely in the Deagle to blast them foo' sharks in the head if they get too close... Now I would be inclined to check all of the brass. Perhaps it was just damaged...

Ever look at the flash holes? Some are centered, some are not. Looks like it was done by a 6 year old with a fisher price drill set. The brass is too soft and the primers are sometimes crimped. It's like the "perfect storm" of bad features...

Yeah it isn't good but it's what I've been plinking with for a long time prior to reloading so it's gonna be while. But right now it's just being used for 55 gr fun stuff. I'm using black hills for more precision ammo.
