How can I mount reloading press to a plank?

I've seen pics and videos of presses that are mounted on planks and then clamped to a table. How does one mount the press to the plank? I'm thinking of using hex bolts and nuts to mount the press but that would mean either having the head or the nut protruding on the bottom scratching the table. Should I just use lag screws?

You can mounrt with bolts by countersinking the bottom of the plank.
Presume: 3/8" cap screws -- using a spade bit of about 3/4 to 7/8 diameter, drill, from the bottom, about 3/8" deep for the bolt head, then change to a regular twist drill to finish the hole -
The cheapest class two cap screws are good enough.

Or Carriage bolts with the washers/nut to the topside. Fast and easy.

T-nut

Look up t-nut. They are available at most hardware stores. They are a steel threaded insert with a spiked flange. Have used them many times for this purpose. Easy to install. Only requires one hole size.

I ended up borrowing friend's spade bit and used that. Thanks everyone. But if anyone else have other ideas keep 'em coming so that other people will have options.

If you have a Fastenal store nearby, you could try there. You might get lucky.

My suggestion? Buy an aluminum plate (or steel if you have a good drill press, 1/4").

Drill then tap and use socket head cap screws with a lock and flat.

Very, very, very stable.

Another good suggestion is to screw the metal plate to the BOTTOM of your table.

You countersink the heads of the SHCS on top of the table that mount the plate on the bottom.

Then drill out the top for your press and mount directly to the table. Drill through the plate and tap. That way the press is pulled into the table surface, and the plate is too from underneath.

This is sort of what I do with my table, except my steel plate is sandwiched on top and bottom by wood (triple layer surface, as are all my workbenches)
