    Using USPS to Ship Ammo?

Hi - I live in Hayward and want to buy some loaded ammunition from a guy in San Diego. 300 rounds of .223.
He believes he cannot ship the loaded ammunition to me via USPS Express box. I have received ammunition like this from private parties before. Any source I can use to let him see that it is legal to ship?
    Thanks!

It is against the law to ship loaded ammo via the Post Office. I am sure it has been done, but it is still against the law.

        USPS, no

There is no hazmat fee on ammo.

UPS will do it, you have to attach a label that says "ORMD" small arms munitions. No Hazmat fee. Fedex will do it as well.

I spoke with UPS a couple times and they have an ORMD print out, or they can give you a bunch of stickers. You could also write it on the box with a sharpie

He is correct. Anyone who has sent you loaded ammo via USPS has risked their freedom and their gun rights.

UPS and Fedex will ship small arms ammo at no extra hazmat cost, however, this can only be shipped via UPS or Fedex GROUND. On top of that you CAN NOT take the box to a regular "UPS Store" or "Fedex Kinkos". You have to either:
                1. Take the box to the UPS Customer Center (with all the trucks and stuff) and mail it from there
                2. Schedule a home pickup from UPS or Fedex.

Use one of the ORM-D labels from here:

I usually tape 2 or 3 to the box, on various sides/top.
