buying ammo online restricted?

I've been to a few different websites recently and some say that ammo sales online in San Fransisco and Marin Counties are banned, while other sites only list rounds for pistols/high cap mags as restricted.


Basically the only options I have are BIG 5 and perhaps Walmart...

Certain zip codes are banned. Best way is Walmart or gun shows.

Can't it be shipped to a business address to a banned zip code?

Have your ammo shipped to a friend or relative that live outside the restricted zone. Billing and shipping address do not have to match. Try classicarms.com

The next gunshow doesn't arrive in the bay area until june if im not mistaken. I found some at walmart for an alright price.

The policies are different from one vendor to another. For instance, Freedom Munitions won't ship to San Francisco while Cebalas will ship to SF. Try different online sources.

try different vendors. i've had many ship me ammo in marin county. sgammo, wideners, cabelas, midwayusa, basspro, etc...

Well I've been looking around but I think I may settle for walmart @ 20rds of Tula 7.62x39 for 5$.

Does anyone know if you have to be fingerprinted in order to buy ammo now in california?

Cabelas will ship to SF.

Don't know if you're being sarcastic-- at this time a fingerprint is not required to purchase ammo.

No I wasn't being sarcastic,I'm just new to guns and trying to get as much useful info as I can. I ended up getting about 400 rounds at Walmart since it was the cheapest to find among Big 5, and several smaller sporting good stores.

City of Sacramento requires fingerprint when buying ammo and a reason why are u buying it!! It gets faxed or emailed to Sac PD. if you drive to Carmichael or outside city limits u can buy without any problems.

Online, try Cheaper Than Dirt. When you are ready to start adding to your shopping cart they have a box to enter your zip code to see if they can ship there. CTD is among the lower prices, not always the lowest, sometimes on some items they will be the lowest.
