You can buy WD40 in bottles, that would be easier if you want to soak it.

As for the nickel issue, in a revolver I wouldn't worry but in an automatic, flaked off nickel might jam up the works.

Nickel looks pretty, that is why some premium ammo uses it. If someone says anything else, they are probably lying.

I've been reading your posts with interest.

I have two that I need to get the primers out. Right now they are sitting in a bowl of water.....for now.

Planning on getting a can of WD40 too.

Kind of makes me nervous. If it goes off, how big of a kaboom will it make?
Assuming I have leather gloves and glasses on of course.
I don't want my neighbors thinking someone is shooting a gun in the apartments.
As i previously mentioned (as did another calgunner) it would be like a loud cap gun. Definitely not like a live round being fired, but in an apartment, your neighbors will probably hear it. They shouldnt confuse it for gunshots though. Dont be scared to deprime it, they come out very easy. I always just decap them, put my ears on (already wear my eyes any time i handle any primers/powder/in my reloading area), maybe put a faceshield on top of my safety glasses (overkill for a single primer, but no harm) and whack it with my hammer on my vise.

I had a 650. At least 3% did that...one reason I got rid of it.

Happened to me not too long ago. Just wear eye protection and slowly decap it.

It's no big deal. Would've been a bigger deal if it had gone off while in the press, but still just a part of reloading.
                  Not likely to detonate now.

I have had this happen before, I just threw it in the trash. Right, wrong or indifferent, it caused me no problems.

XL-650 priming system hates any bench movement! Loaded 1K of .45 ACP last week in 2.5 hours and had one side ways primer.

I've got a mason jar with 50-70 of those in it. Mostly .223 cases where I didn't get the primer crimp perfectly removed. Make sure you're using the right size priming bits. I had a lot of those issues when I forgot to take the large primer bits out and put the small primer bits in. Caused no end of sideways and upside down primers.

I just drop them in the mason jar with water and then run them back through the sizing die. I've pushed upside down primers out which made by butt cheeks clench a bit but do it slow and there's no problems.

I have had a couple do that with a hand primer, just load it in your pistol and pull the trigger, they still go off even when they are in sideways and just sound like a cap gun like others have said.

OHOD, just turn up the tv, turn on the shower and squeeze the trigger. It is sideways so it is covering the flash hole and nothing should come out the barrel.

Glad to see you reloading OHOD!

after you have loaded for a while (years) you will get thease no big deal you can squash a primer sideways and no boom if has to be 'pre loaded" with anvil presing into it so that the firing pin smaks and crushes aginst the anvil to pop.

""""If it goes off, how big of a kaboom will it make?""

like a load cap psitol just fire a PRIMED only case and you will not to bad.
