If I was going to do it again, I'd just buy the tumbler and then buy this. It would be cheaper and probably not as messy as the ball separator. It seems that when rolling the brass around is when the media flips out and misses the bucket. I would think that the above one wouldn't make such a mess.
Ah yeah, so that's basically a colander. Difference in price is just a few bucks.

I've had that setup for a couple years now and it works just fine. No problems with it.

I bought this set up and used it once. I ended up selling it after that. I didn't like anything about it.

What are the pros and cons of using a tumbler vs. an ultrasonic cleaner?

Tumbler kit works great, got it at this price about two years ago. I liked well enough to get a second one so I didn't have to deal with swapping back and forth between corn for polishing and lube removal and walnut for good cleaning action. I just finished tumbling over 200 mixed .223 and .308 with good movement of brass/media, I could have included more. I've also done over 400 mixed .44 and .45 with great results.

The included media separator works OK also, it includes deflector shields that minimize media flinging off into space, start slow until most has sifted out, then you can pick up speed. I've fondled a Dillon, and the media separator is not $20 better then this entire kit despite what they charge for it.
