    Midway Sale Week

Tomorrow Midway is selling the following
Frankford Arsenal Quick-N-EZ Case Tumbler Master Kit for $54.
Can anyone comment on the quality please.
I'm getting into reloading and think this may be a good place to start.

Seems like a good deal. Harbor freight sells a tumbler for around $50, but you don't get that extra stuff. You don't need that extra stuff, but it's nice.

To answer your question, if I already didn't have a tumbler, then yes, I'd pick up that kit in a heartbeat. It ain't hard to make a tumbler, I'm sure it will work fine.

The media seperator was the biggest, flimsiest piece of crap I have bought in a while. Took it right back to where I bought it for a full refund. The tumbler works "OK" at best, their older model tumbler definitely worked better and the one that HF sells looks to be identical to their older model and works well too. On the media seperator I would spend your money once and buy the Dillon model, large or small, they work great, I have been using mine for 15+ years with no issues.

I've been using it non stop for about 7 months. Works great. Relatively quiet and does a good job. The sifter that comes with it works ok, $54 is a great price. I'd buy it again.

I have this tumbler personally and have found that it works great so far. I have ran about 2000 rounds of .223 and 3000 rounds of 45 ACP and 9mm through it with no problems. It seems to be a solid little tumbler. Being small would be my only complaint so far. I personally wish it was a bit bigger, as I usually only tumble about 200 to 250 rounds of .223 at a time through it. I use a large RCBS media separator that is completely enclosed as compared to the Franklin open separator, that was just my choice to keep the media from getting everywhere. All in all, I have been very happy with the quality of the Franklin Tumbler.

I've had mine for about 2 years. Been very happy with it so far.

The tumbler only will be on sale on Monday the 28th from Midway for $30. You can get the tumbler without paying for the media separator that way if you are concerned about it.

I have one and it works fine. The separator is a POS. The only complaint I have with it is the fact that the springs are mounted into the base sockets with hot glue or something like that. Mine came unbonded and now I have to just make sure the springs are in the sockets before running it, or it will walk around on me.

I've been using one for about 6 months now, given the price don't expect top quality but the tumbler works ok and the separator works as well. For first time equipment its a good deal and after you have gotten some experience you can decide if you need a bigger or more powerful tumbler. If you find you would rather shoot then reload (it can happen) then you haven't spent a lot of money for top of the line equipment.

That may be a better deal, and find an enclosed seperator. -g

Frankford Arsenal makes a separator that just goes on a bucket.

If I was going to do it again, I'd just buy the tumbler and then buy this. It would be cheaper and probably not as messy as the ball separator. It seems that when rolling the brass around is when the media flips out and misses the bucket. I would think that the above one wouldn't make such a mess.

That tumbler looks like the one that I bought from Midway about 3 years ago, the cheapest one they sell. I've used it clean more than 60,000 pieces of brass. I wish it was bigger but, it works just fine.

Would this be considered a small sized tumbler? If I'm only going to buy one, would I be better served buying one with more capacity? I know it depends on the volume to be cleaned and I think right now it would be 200-300 357mag and 45acp. But I'm thinking gun safe mentality, buy larger than you need at the time. -g

I routinely fill mine with 200-300 40's and there is plenty of room left.

I think its a good deal, but you will get someones opinion/review that will bash just about anything so take each opinion (including mine) with a grain of salt. I am also the guy who will purchase something that is significantly more inexpensive at the risk of being possibly a little inferior. That way I form likes/dislikes using my own opinion then if I want to replace it, I'll know what to really shell out some cash on.

In the case of this tumbler, it does exactly what I need it to. I tumble a couple hundred cases at a time and load them up. wash/rinse/repeat. Actually I have had great luck with all the Frankford Arsenal products I have purchased, much like I have had great luck with all the Lee products I have purchased. Others on here, quite the opposite. I don't think you can go wrong at the price they are offering it at.

When I first got my Frankfurt Arsenal tumbler, I really wished I had that media seperator! All the cases were full of walnut media and when you shake them around, the cases just right themselves so the media doesn't fall out.

Then I bought a cheap colander and a slotted spoon. I just mix up the cases and dump them and eventually most of the media is through. The seperator is easier, but I'm doing basically the same thing.
