    4064 and VV 140 with 168's and 175's here.

I've been experimenting with 8208 XBR and 155's...not sure about that combo yet

I've used varget for years and had great results.

Did Varget for a while then I switched to RL15 and haven't looked back. My rifle prefers the RL15 for 600 yards.

168gr for 1000+ yrd shooting? How consistent is that?

2.875" may actually be a more accurate OAL in this particular rifle if it's long throated and has a magazine capable of loading the ammo. The Berger 165g. VLDs I load for my Rem. 700 30 06 group best at 3.425" COAL and not 3.340" (the published max. cartridge OAL). My Sako .243 I load berger 85g VLDs to 2.800" COAL. Some of my rifles don't have the magazine length to do this.

                  IMR 4064

It's a good powder for .308, but i like it because it also works well with my .30-06

Take all the other powders and throw them in the trash.

Ball powders tend to be temperature sensative. Not good when you want really good accuracy (velocity inconsistancies lead to opening of groups).

I use IMR 4064 in my .308 match rifle. I tried BR2015 once but got horizontal stringing, so I went back to 4064 and never looked back. I started using it when I first began Highpower competition and read an article about Middleton Tomkins, the 6-time highpower champion at Camp Perry, which quoted his load as the Sierra 168gr bullet and 40 grains of 4064 for 200 and 300 yards, and the Sierra 190 and 42 gr of 4064 for 600 yards. I didn't have a lot of different powders, or the skill/knowledge to develop the best load at the time. Fortunately, that combination worked very well in my rifle, and I did very well with it for many years.

I use TAC. My best group is 0.38 for five rounds at Burro at 100 yards on a somewhat windy day, but I waited for the lulls.

I shoot it out of a Tikka 308 tactical and the 168 grain smk's are kissing the lands.

My load which works well in both my LMT MWS and Tikka Tactical (24" barrel) is 44.1 grains of TAC with a SMK 168 grain. Average velocity is 2780 fps at 10 feet from the muzzle.

TAC is a bit dirty, but it meters super great on a dillon 550, while varget is a crap shot. Yes, you can get consistant drops with varget, but its harder and anyone who tells you they get -/+ 0.1 grains most likely doesn't check too often or has a broken scale. TAC will meter +/- 0.1 easily.

For 6 PPC I use N133, its really clean, but I measure out each load which is a nightmare from a production stand point but needed for benchrest.
